He Loves Me (2011 Lifetime)
Synopsis (via Lifetime)
When Laura begins to suspect her husband is cheating on her, she is devastated by his infidelity, despite having a torrid affair of her own. While she desperately tries to save her marriage, Laura’s mysterious past begins to emerge, making her more paranoid, delusional, and violent in alarming ways. As her mental state continues to unravel, whoever gets in the form of Laura’s myriad of fantasies becomes expendable, revealing the shocking dream world that insulates her from reality.
Laura and her lover, Sam, have a passionate relationship. They have public sex on ferry boats in the rain—Par for the course when you are Heather Locklear. She is cheating on her husband, Nick. Laura says she feels bad but continues to have sex with him and receive gifts while at work. Sam is a saxophone player, which is portrayed as sexy, but I can’t help but think of Rob Burgundy.
A friend of Laura’s recommends a therapist. The therapist is understanding of Laura’s affair and the passion it brings into her life. When Laura learns that Nick is also having an affair, she becomes unraveled.
Lara tracks down the woman who is sleeping with her husband, who is a yoga instructor. Lara confronts her after a yoga class in the building’s freight elevator. The woman’s coat buckle gets stuck in the elevator shaft and wraps around her neck choking her. Lara watches and does nothing to save her.
Detectives look into the murder and question Lara because she was on the class registry. Lara plays it off that she is a distracted housewife vibe. Then she goes to therapy, where her therapist asks if she is making up the affair and doubts if Sam is even real. She almost has it right.
It turns out that Lara doesn’t have a husband or daughter. She kills Sam in the street. The therapist calls Lara, concerned. Lara tells her that she doesn’t know anything about that but sets up a meeting with her therapist on the ferry and kills her.
Then she is free to live out her fantasy life with Nick and his daughter, Lisa. This one was a head-scratcher.
