Synopsis (via Hallmark)

Nicknamed “Miss Christmas,” the official tree finder for Chicago’s renowned Radcliffe Tree lighting is left desperate to find the perfect tree. A letter from a young boy promising his tree is perfect sends her to a small town where she learns the young boy’s dad isn’t willing to part with his tree. While sparks fly, she’ll be forced to confront what she’s really been missing for Christmas…

Thoughts

Holly, Miss Christmas, Khun is Chicago’s very own Christmas Tree Procurer. She thinks she has everything ready for this year’s Christmas tree lighting when news of a crane mishap derails Holly’s plans. She is on the hunt for the perfect Christmas Tree (because the perfect man doesn’t exist). Holly needs to focus on work, not men.

Just when all hope is lost, Holly gets a letter from Joey, a kid from Klaus, Wisconsin. He has the perfect tree for her. Holly heads up to Wisconsin and meets Sam in town during a meet cute with a snowman. Sam is not into the holiday spirit, and Holly has Jingle Bells as her ringtone. It turns out that Sam is Joey’s dad, and he is not about to give up the tree.

Sam’s mom died last year, and the tree reminds him of her—it has his parents initials carved in the trunk. Not to be one to take no for an answer, Holly one-ups Sam with a dead mom AND dad, who both loved the Radcliff Christmas Tree. She even creates PowerPoint presentation, or a deck as my roommate, Sarah, would say, to persuade him, but has no luck. Sam and his family need more time to mull it over.

Things escalate when Andrea, Holly’s boss, calls to tell her corporate has gotten involved and if she doesn’t get this tree, she might as well not bother to come back at all. Instead of doing something about it or looking for another tree, Holly spends time bonding with the family. They decorate the inn, ride a Christmas carriage, bake cookies, and wear ugly Christmas sweaters in town! The strategy works and Sam agrees to let Holly have the tree.

Holly calls her assistant to tell her she is going to stay in Klaus and is only going to Chicago to bring the tree and leave. Sam overhears the wrong part of the conversion and rescinds his offer, because he thinks she is going to leave the town and never come back. Hurt Holly goes back to Chicago. Another letter from Joey turns things around and Holly brings Radcliffe to Wisconsin. She decorates the tree in the backyard. If I’m honest, it isn’t even that great!

Side Note

Originally this movie was to be set in DC and Holly was looking for the National Christmas Tree. Now in Chicago at “The Radcliffe Plaza,” which DOES NOT EXIST!!

POC Alert: Andrea, Holly boss (who as the most prevalent Canadian accent I’ve heard so far). AND townspeople.

Marc Blucas could create chemistry with anyone. He is very charming.
