Synopsis (Via Hallmark)

Just because they are identical does not mean these twins even like each other. Estranged twin sisters get together for an obligatory pre-Christmas lunch, a year after their mother died. Both women are unhappy and frustrated with their own lives. Though not close, each is envious of the other’s life. What’s a twin to do but take advantage of this? And who would be the wiser? They do what any identical twins in need of new outlooks would do — they swap lives until Christmas Day. And by doing so, each woman discovers the true meaning of her life and gains a deeper perspective and appreciation for what she already had.

Thoughts

THE MOMENT CANDACE CAMERON BURE (AND NO ONE ELSE) HAS BEEN WAITING FOR!

Candace Cameron Bure plays twin sisters. Twin 1: Chris loves Christmas, does her own laundry, and eats carbs. Twin 2: Kate lives in a fancy apartment and juices.

Kate works in a fancy office and is unexpectedly given the responsibility of planning the office holiday party.  Chris is a divorcee (or art teacher?) and is given the responsibility of planning a school winter wonderland? I’m not sure.

The twins dad plans a brunch to trick the sisters into talkingbecause they haven’t in two years. Despite their promise to their mother on her deathbed to see each other once a year. The brunch doesn’t go very well when the sisters start comparing lives and arguing about whose life is harder.

They go all prince and the pauper (or Parent Trap, with a dead parent?) Timing couldn’t be better, couldn’t be better! School is on winter break and work is all about the Christmas office party. They go into the restaurant bathroom and swap clothes and exchange notes (Twin 1 on a post it and Twin 2 on a outlined, highlighted, and bullet pointed email.)

Chris (Now Twin 2) meets Tom, the new benefactor for the school (and Kate’s former childhood crush). He has plenty of ideas about how to make the Winter Wonderland school event even better! It has been the same for the past ten years. They will discuss different options at family dinner.

Kate (Now twin 1) is realizing that the office party is going to be more work than she anticipated and keeps bumping into Greg, the office art director.

They both agree to keep the switch going a little longer because they have crushes!!! They are such GIRLS! You, know?!?!

This movie is basically the same montage over and over again. Twin 1 looks in the closet and Twin 2 looks in the closet. Twin 1 tries to cook breakfast and Twin 2 tries to cook breakfast. It is basically that joke about Pete and Repete…

The switch only works on non-family members (because they are twins, not clones) Chris’s kids figure it out when Twin 1 calls and tells them. Also their dad knows, because he is their dad.

Cue the internal-movie Balsam Hill commercial.

Despite, going on a small town date pretending to be Chris, Twin 2 is VERY upset when Twin 1 has Greg over to her apartment to work on the office party. The twins agree to a no romance policy!

This movie is basically the same montage over and over again. Twin 1 succeeds at work and Twin 2 hits a work snag. Twin 1 bakes cookies with Greg and Twin 2 a hangs out with Tom. It is basically that joke about Pete and Repete…

The sisters talk over mint chocolate chip ice cream, but are they taking this too far? Their mom would be happy that they are spending time together. (But, not really… because they aren’t’ together.)

This movie is basically the same montage over and over again. Twin 1 enjoys the office party with Greg and Twin 2 enjoys the winter wonderland festival with Tom.  Twin 1 kisses Greg and tells him the whole swap story and Twin 2 almost kisses Tom and tells him the story of her childhood crush on him. It is basically that joke about Pete and Repete…

The sisters talk over hot cocoa, but are they taking this too far? Their Mom would be happy the are spending time together. (But, not really… because they aren’t’ together…)

They realize that they have actually been talking more and have come to appreciate the other’s accomplishments. What a mess they’ve created, and now they are together at the winter wonderland and I don’t WHAT IS HAPPENING.

It is now Christmas Eve, and the sisters dad found some presents their mom left. (Two years ago?) Ice skates…

“Let’s do more of that,” Candace Cameron Bure says.

Greg shows up at the house and talks to Twin 1. He loves her for her. Her family, and art teacher ways won’t discourage him! They kiss outside and live happily ever after. While Twin 2 looks on longly.

Not to be outdone, Twin 2 goes back to winter wonderland and sees Tom, they kiss in an ice skating rink. And just so we are sure, she reiterates who exactly she is because at this point I have NO IDEA.

Cue another Balsam Hill Commercial. This movie is basically the same montage over and over again. It is basically that joke about Pete and Repete…

Side Note

Everyone I was watching this one with groaned in agony… multiple times.

Candace Cameron Bure… legit can’t act.

Did Candace Cameron Bure get paid double for switched for Christmas?

  1. I agree on the 5 glasses of wine. But I think you forgot to give her a point boost simply for being DJ Tanner. So maybe it could get 1 Christmas tree and a wreath? 😉
