Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Brooke is starting over in a new town with her mom and wealthy stepdad when she befriends a new guy she meets at school, which leads to her being abducted from her own home. When Brooke’s mother Shannon realizes what’s happened, she takes it on herself to find her daughter–and soon ends up on a collision course with a deadly kidnapper.

Thoughts

The movie starts with a WILD glass staircase, did you guys see that staircase? Brooke is a sad teen who is going to a new school. Her mom, Sharon, doesn’t want her daughter to be sad or have tattered clothing. She sends Brook off to school, where she meets Corey. (He was also in Stalked by my Ex, in a similar role.) He thinks Brooke is fancy and rich because of where she lives, but it is all her stepdad’s money. They exchange numbers and then talk about kidnappers.

Some creepy guy with long hair calls a generic white guy with a country accent who is robbing a house, is it, Corey? I don’t think so, but they look very similar. He owes the creepy guy a lot of money. (We find out later, his name is Hunter and is not Corey)

Brooke and Corey text late at night, and Hunter interrupts. His is Corey’s brother, and he needs money in a bad way. Hunter sees Brooke’s social media profile and learns she is from a wealthy neighborhood. The boys drive through the neighborhood and park outside of Brooke’s house. Hunter breaks in and kidnaps Brooke. (She attempts to get away by spraying him with hair spray and throwing a vase at him, very cliche.) Corey is the getaway driver with his friend Eric in the front seat, and they very confused.

Sharon realizes that her daughter has been abducted when she sees the broken vase. She tracks Brooke’s phone and heads to its location. It is in a bush because Hunter threw it out of the window. Then she gets a ransom text and then a skype call where they demand $250,000. Instead of doing anything, Sharon watches the ransom video and cries.

The boys’ tape Brooke to a chair in Eric’s house, and Brooke begs for them to let her go. She can’t understand why Corey would go along with the kidnapping, even if they are brothers. Eric is so not on board. He wants to go to the cops. Eric calls 911 later and gets caught by Hunter. Hunter kills Eric while very dramatic music plays.

Then a clock countdown shows up, which is random AF.

Sharon continues to look at the footage and finally notices the tattoo on Hunter’s arm. She goes to tattoo parlors to find the artist who did the tattoo — haha, just kidding. She can’t go to the police, or they will kill her daughter. She goes to one of the girls from the center where she works. Sharon talks about a “tattoo crew,” and at that moment, I’m sure a 40-year-old man wrote this movie. WTF is a tattoo crew! They go on the hunt… for hunters tattoo. The search takes her to a lady tattoo artist and then the creepy long-haired guy. He holds Sharon at knifepoint, the sound here is terrible, and I have no clue what was said. Same for a scene with the creepy guy’s girlfriend and Sharon in a car.

The brothers move Brooke from Eric’s house to theirs. They fight a lot and wave a gun around. Sharon finds Eric’s body, and that is when she knows her daughter is in some serious trouble. She locates their house and sneaks up with a tire iron as her weapon of choice. Sharon gets caught by Hunter and locked in the same room as Brooke. Hunter and Corey are about to tie up the women when the lights go out. Corey stops them from escaping, and Sharon fills him in that Eric is dead. Corey turns on Hunter and screams, “WHY!!!”

The cops are on their way, and everyone struggles over the gun. Sharon grabs it and holds it down until the sexy police arrive on the scene. Sappy music plays, and the clock strikes zero? Happy New Year????

Back in the fancy house, Brooke and the bad teen are friends how. Sharon found the teen a foster home. They are all one big happy family.

Side Note

Minority Report: Brooke, Corey, Eric, a teacher, neighbor,

The sound mixing in this movie was terrible. Birds or crickets were chirping through multiple scenes with music playing over dialogue. Very distracting and hard to hear.

Worst LMN movie of 2020, so far.
