Synopsis (via Lifetime)
One of Philadelphia’s top sommeliers, Camila (Sánchez) goes home to the magical vineyards of Evergreen, N.Y., to take part in the town’s annual Ice Wine Christmas Festival and harvest. While there, Camila spends time with her mother, Sunny (Maria del Mar), and sister, Beth (AnnaMaria Demara), who manages the local winery for Camila’s former ice wine mentor, Henry (Richard Fitzpatrick). But Camila discovers changes are coming as Henry plans to retire, scaling down the Christmas festival. Beth also recently hired wine specialist Declan (Bent), who plans to take the operation to full-year production. Believing in the importance of preserving the magic of ‘Christmas in a bottle,’ Camila shares with Declan her passion for Christmas and what an authentic ice wine harvest can bring.(2021)
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Camila is a sommelier who loves ice wine and is up for a promotion! She didn’t go to school for wine; she just has a gut feeling. Exposition!
For Christmas vacation, Camila drives up to her family winery, Evergreen, and is greeted by her Godfather, Henry. (Who is planning on becoming a snowbird.) Evergreen will now be run by her sister, Beth!
In the downtown area, Camila runs into a man who seems lost and doesn’t have a coat. His name is Declan, and he is an oenologist. (Who specializes in wine production.) He is visiting to help the winery automate. Camila is suspicious of science but still sits down to coffee with him and her family for some casual flirting.
Camila loves Christmas and thinks the Christmas Magic makes the wine taste better. She offers to show Declan around town to experience what is special about Evergreen. (Which is basically some decorated wine barrels.)
There is a Christmas Festival, and Camila joins the planning committee. She makes a PowerPoint presentation that contains two slides. Her big idea? More Christmas lights!! Her plan is to make the festival so amazing that Henry will ditch Florida and stay in Evergreen.
Declan is impressed with the ice wine and thinks he can replicate the flavor with science! Camila agrees to a sexy blindfolded wine tasting. She nails them all and can spot the GMO wine from the traditionally harvested.
Speaking of tradition, Delcan has an unusual Christmas tradition of traveling with his family for Christmas. The great wall of China, beaches in Sydney, and Christmas in Spain. Camila can’t comprehend not being home for Christmas. Camila invites Declan to a gift wrapping party. It is BYOP (Bring your own pajamas.)
There is a belltower in town that Camila wants to repair. She asks Declan to help, and he agrees to fix the bells.
In the winery, Camila talks to the plans about her promotion, she is conflicted because it is an excellent opportunity, but she feels like her family needs her.
At a silent auction, Declan bids and wins a dinner for two at the Snowman Diner with Camila. She is flattered that he wants to spend more time with her.
That doesn’t last long because Declan tells Beth the harvest date (Which is the same date as the big festival.), and Camila doesn’t trust the science again. She argues with Declan and wants to go with her gut feeling.
Wine brings them back together. They taste wines, and Camila speaks in metaphors. Talking about how “high maintenance” Ice Wine is to harvest. Declan isn’t scared off and promises to be honest if he thinks he has made a mistake about the date, he will tell her.
Declan and Camila dance to Christmas music. Things seem to be going great. Until Camila overhears Declan, Beth, and Henry talking about their plan to continue on with automation.
It is the night of the Christmas festival, I think? The temperature isn’t as cold as it is needed to harvest the ice wine, and Beth is freaking out because the harvest volunteers are all lined up with no frost.
Declan feels terrible that he was wrong and thinks Camila will gloat. She kind of does but takes the opportunity to talk about their relationship and how they are a missed connection. Camila will take the promotion in Philly, and Delcan will be off to his next ]wine mission in Paris.
It is all for not because Camila finds a frozen grape, and the harvest is saved. Only there is no one to pick the grapes because Beth sent the volunteers home. When the frost does come, Camila freakout like she is in a horror movie. Her intuition was correct!
To round up the townsfolk to help with the harvest, Camila rings the bells like she is The Hunchback of Notre Dame. That works, and everyone comes out on Christmas Eve to help while singing. “Deck the Halls.”
Henry gifts the winery to Declan, Camila, and Beth for Christmas. (Which is quite the gift.) Declan and Camila think it over in the belltower and once Camila stops talking Declan kisses her and tells her that he is home. The end!
