Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Hopeless romantic Eva Jordan decorates a spectacular Manhattan Penthouse for Christmas and brings moody writer Lucas Blade some joy for the holidays. (2021)

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Eva loves Christmas in New York and even has care packages for street carolers. The holidays are her biggest season for her decorating business.

Lucas is a New York Times Best Selling Author who writes in solitude in Vermont. He is closed off since the “accident that took Sally Anne” (Whoever that is!) His mother, Mitzy, insists that he comes back to New York for Christmas.

To prepare for her son’s return, Mitzy asks for some help from Eva. She asks him to decorate Lucas’ penthouse on 5th Ave before he comes home for the holidays. Eva is even asked to house sit while she works. It is practically a paid vacation, AND she can sublet her apartment to make some extra cash.

Eva moves into the penthouse and is impressed with the view, the kitchen, and the man in the bedroom. Eva runs to defend herself with a candy cane. Lucas arrived back early and lied to his mother about being in Vermont. Eva explains that she is hired to decorate for Christmas and has sublet her place; she has nowhere to go. Lucas agrees to let her stay, but he is VERY annoyed and VERY hunky.

Eva calls her cute adoptive parents (She calls them Forever Parents, which is nice.) to vent to them. They are concerned she is staying with a stranger but aren’t coming to NYC for Christmas this year, but they are proud of her at least!

The cohabitating goes as smoothly as you would expect. Eva sings Christmas carols while working/baking, which isn’t good for Lucas and his writing. He also objects to:

1) Christmas Trees

2) Tea

3) Peppermint Scones

4) Turkey and the fixings

Lucas is mean to Eva, so she bonds with the lonely British doorman. He will be working for Christmas and invites Eva to spend the holiday with him if Lucas is a grinch.

Eva decorates the Christmas tree and goes live on @Urban_Genie to talk about why Christmas means so much to her as a former child growing up in the foster care system. Lucas overhears her broadcast and is charmed by her story about a Christmas sock. (A unique tradition from her forever parents.)

Lucas has suffered from writer’s block ever since Sally Anne died. Eva asks him why he started writing in the first place and tells him to start small. Josh quickly puts pen to paper. (My dude writes on a legal pad?!?!) Then he makes them some grilled cheese, which isn’t a very Christmasy food. It is, however, such a bachelor food.

A Snowflake Christmas Ball is coming up, and Eva encourages Josh to go for a good cause, then she RSVPs plus one! (Which is presumptuous!)

A “growing closer” montage happens, and Josh continues to work on his book. I’m a bit concerned about Eva’s decoration style because it is janky as hell. (Think paper snowflake cutouts hung on cabinets and red bows taped to the walls.)

To get ready for the ball, Josh takes Eva to get some jewelry for the event. (Then later an ugly ass dress!) They then drink wine and talk about Eva’s loser dating history. She tells Josh that she believes in true love and Santa.

It is the night of the Snowflake Christmas Ball, and the two head out for a night on the town. Lucas signs books for charity at the party and Eva is impressed by his generosity. After the event, Eva freaks out on Lucas because she wants to find love. IDK!

Eva plans a Christmas wedding proposal, and it goes smoothly. She takes pictures of the couple like she is the paparazzi and Lucas follows with a bottle of champagne for the couple. He tells her that he thinks Eva deserves love in her life, and he is sorry if he gave her the impression she didn’t. He flys with her parent’s to New York, and Eva is so touched that she kisses Josh on the mouth!

Eva tells Lucas that she is falling in love with him, but he is oblivious. He thinks he can’t give her what she needs, so she packs her things (In a cute suitcase!) and leaves crying. (AT CHRISTMAS?!?!) Lucas watches videos they made sad and alone.

The Forever Parents give Eva some advice which consists of, “Life is hard!” Probably not what she needed to hear, but they also give her wine.

Lucas tells his mother that he is in love with Eva. She tells him that love is a gift and invites him to brunch with her. (A brunch that Eva is planning.)

Eva is picked up from brunch in a back car and given a gift. She is whisked away, and Lucas proposes to Eva. He opens the fancy jewelry store on Christmas just for her. And that is a FLEX! Merry Christmas!
