Recap/Wine Thoughts

Author Elise and her artist husband Allan live in a house by the lake. Their elderly neighbor Chester loves to fish and thinks his neighbors are hippies. They want him to sell so they can start an artist retreat.

Chester refuses to sell but is electrocuted by a live wire by the dock and killed.

Six weeks later, Elise has neighbors Sylvia and Murray help her revitalize the dock and put in a shock alarm to notify when the water is electrocuted. Sylvia seems a bit obsessive and idolizes Elise after reading all her books.

Speaking of neighbors, a new couple moves in next door. A couple, Lee and his girlfriend Geena, move into Chester’s house. They are surprised Elise lives next door and try to apologize. Lee is Elise’s former fiance, and Geena was her best friend.

Elise is manipulated into throwing a party with the couple; she writes a book about forgiveness and doesn’t want to be a hypocrite. The dinner is about as awkward you would think; Lee and Allan agree to go hunting together. Geena over drinks wine and insinuates that Lee and Elise still have love for one another.

Strange things start happening to Elise, her robe goes missing in the shower, and doors are left open, giving her an uneasy feeling. She goes into the woods following Geena and falls, hitting her head. Lee finds her and takes her inside to nurse her back to health. Allan finds them together and thinks it is a weird coincidence.

Lee returns a vase that Geena stole from Elise’s house (She is a kleptomaniac and doesn’t just steal fiance.) Apologizes because she was in her house. Lee asks Elise to take her on as a patient because Elise used to be a therapist. She refuses and tells him that when he left her a week before their wedding with her best friend, it made her suicidal. She wants nothing to do with him and offers to buy them out of their mortgage. That doesn’t go well, and Geena tells Elise that she doesn’t want her as her enemy.

Allan and Lee go hunting together, and Lee opens up about his affair with Geena. He accidentally got her pregnant and had to leave Elise to take care of his baby; only she never had the baby. Lee thinks Geena lied about the baby and admits that she physically abuses him. Allan lends a sympathetic ear until Lee admits that he also called out Elise’s name while having sex with Geena the night before. (Which might be an overshare.)

Meanwhile, Geena and Elise get into an altercation in the woods. Geena continues to pressure Elise on her feeling about Lee. She is paranoid that her husband is still in love with Elise.

Allan leaves Elise alone in the cabin because he needs some space. Geena also kicks Lee out of the house, leaving him sleeping in the car with a black eye.

Elise and Lee argue in the rain, but she lets him stay with her to warm up and sleep on the couch. She goes to her room and locks the door. The following day, Lee wakes up in his underwear on the couch, and he is ripped!!! (Cheater or not, he is hot.) Allan comes home after an all-night bender and sees Lee in the house. He gets very jealous but agrees to stay and make things work.

Geena denies assaulting Lee and tells Elise that she is gaslighting her and almost hits her with a hammer. Lee stops his wife from hurting Geena and tells Elise that they WILL be moving, even though Geena refuses to leave.

Geena and Lee meet with Allan to talk about buying the house. They plan to move to the Caribbean. It is all a ploy to get him over to the house and drug him. As he struggles to leave, Geena tells Allan that they are just pawns and Elise and Lee are going to divorce them. He is holding a bloody hammer when he comes to, and Geena is bloody and beaten in Lee’s arms. Geena dies, and Allan is charged with murder.

With her husband in jail, Elise eats dinner with Lee. The dock alarm goes off, and Elise goes down to turn it off. Sylvia is down by the dock and tells her she thinks it was Lee who tried to kill her husband. Lee catches them talking and hits Sylvia with a meat tenderizer.

Elise runs into the woods and is chased down by Lee. He tells Elise that he loves her, but he has to kill her to get over her. Lee drags Elise to the dock, but she pushes him in and electrocutes him.

Allan and Elise buy the house next door and open up the art retreat. Elise hires Sylvia as her personal assistant. Her first assignment is to tear down the dock.

  1. This movies pissed me off terribly bad a every turn because people don’t act like this in real life like c’monnnnn this is so annoying Elisa is a gullible idiot and her husband act likes a little Whitney girl like she needs to divorce is weak butt. I wish lifetime would make movies more realistic so we can relate
