Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Up and coming interior designer Jodi Shaw is taking on the biggest project of her career and could use a bit of help. Enter Wendy Richards, a bright young woman who just happens to save Jodi from disaster in a parking lot, a chance meeting that provides Jodi with the perfect candidate to hire as an assistant as a way to repay the favor. But the life-saving incident was far from random, as we find out by Dr. Carrie Farber, and Wendy isn’t just a good Samaritan. Jackee Harry, Sarah Armstrong, Chelsea Gilson, Dee Wallace, and Paul Logan star. (2022)

Recap/Wine Thoughts

The movie starts with a handsome hunk breaking into a house very quietly. He sees someone inside and leaves.

The woman in the house is named Jodie, and s an interior designer. The same man robs Jodie in a parking lot, but he is scared off by a pretty onlooker with a phone. She records the whole thing and helps Jodie up from the ground. Jodie offers to reward the woman named Wendy, but the woman declines. They do exchange numbers, and Wendy stalks Jodie almost immediately. Wendy cancels her therapy sessions with

Jackée Harry.

Things start turning around, and Jodie’s boyfriend proposes to her. Jodie gushes to her friend Monica, who gets jealous and worries about being alone and single FOREVER! They don’t know that Eric is cheating on his new fiance.

Wendy and Jodie meet for coffee, and Jodie (not so casually) brings up that she was an assistant for an interior designer. Jodie takes the bate and hires Wendy to be her assistant. Jodie checks Wendy’s references but is duped by the handsome burglar Wendy hired to impersonate her boss. (And attack Jodie.)

Wendy’s housing falls through because she “agreed to her lease with a handshake.” So, Jodie takes her in as her assistant and roommate. They make a pretty good team, minus the lies and deception.

Eric is not a fan of Wendy and warns his fiance to be careful. He also asks her to have Wendy move out. Wendy feels uncomfortable but still happily moves in and hugs a pillow with joy.

Ms. Jackee Harry continues calling Wendy to tell her that she needs to come to therapy. Wendy is too busy “streaming movies” and spending all her time with her new boss/BFF.

Monica takes Jodie out for the last hurrah before the wedding and pointedly doesn’t invite Wendy. The girls have too much to drink, and Monica calls Wendy an annoying little sister. (Of course, Wendy watches the whole conversation and confronts Monica later.)

Unfortunately, Eric works out with his shirt on at his girlfriend’s house. Wendy catches Etic and confronts him for cheating on his fiance. Eric flips it on Wendy and tells her that he will say she was hitting on him and there is nothing she can do about it. Only there is. Wendy knocks him in the head with an 8-pound dumbbell putting Eric in a coma.

A Detectives questions Jodie and shares the news about his affair. Jodie is devastated and leans on Wendy for support. Her co-worker, Roy, is also supportive and asks her out on a dinner date. On the date

Wendy is blackmailed by the bugler hunk. She isn’t going down like that and kills him somehow. Then she steals Jodie’s phone and sets up a meeting with Monica so she can clobber her with a wine bottle.

Jodie starts to suspect that something is off with Wendy after everyone in her life has warned her. She searches through Wendy’s laptop and finds a picture of her as a camp counselor with a little girl. Jodie calls the camp owner to see if she remembers Wendy. The owner gave out Jodie’s information, which is not cool!

Also not cool is when therapist Jackee Harry breaks doctor-patient confidentiality. Jodi learns that she saved Wendy from drowning at camp as a child and has a savior complex. Jackee Harry also warns Jodi to be careful.

Wendy and Jodie finally talk about their past. Wendy admits that she has just been trying to repay Jodie for saving her life. Well, Wendy pulls out a huge butcher knife for the conversation. Jodie wants to save Wendy and stop her from hurting herself and others. The detective shows up and arrests Wendy.

Wendy gets help from an institution while wearing an adorable sheer nightgown. Meanwhile, Jodie starts officially dating Roy.
