Recap/Wine Thoughts

Atlanta Housewife, not the Bravo kind, Kendra Davis is on a “work date” with a pushy contractor who doesn’t know she is married. (Or if he does, he doesn’t care.) Kendra is in the dark, too; her husband, Peter, spys on her during the date and follows them back to the man’s house. Kendra leaves before things get hot and heavy and return home to her pre-teen son, Langston. (He is obsessed with skateboarding and webcams)

Peter comes home and asks his wife how her night was; she lies and says she was out for drinks with Samantha. Their relationship is cool at best.

Eric, the hunk contractor, sees Kendra out at lunch by herself and invites her to join him. He apologizes for pressuring Kendra into almost having an affair, and they agree to be just friends.

Kendra doesn’t just want to avoid her husband; she also drops off her son at her friend Heather’s house. Heather also hired Eric for a job that led to more than required. (AKA making out on the couch for hours.) Kendra feels foolish for getting played.

Samantha invites Kendra over for wine, and Kedra spills the whole thing about the almost affair with the womanizing contractor. Kendra pours up the wine; she is a good friend. (I hope she doesn’t die in the movie!)

They won’t have to worry about Eric for long because someone he recognizes murders the contractor in his garage at night. The murder sends the housewives into a tizzy, and Samantha seems overly upset. (Or is she only acting?)

Detectives question Kendra about the contractor, and she comes clean about getting drinks with Eric but lies about going back to his place. They don’t buy that she wasn’t having an affair. Neither does her husband, who overhears the questions and calls his wife a liar before angrily storming off.

Kendra returns to the crime scene to do some snooping around and cries over a picture of Eric. (Only in a Lifetime movie!) While driving home, she sees her husband and Heather sitting on a park bench embracing. She also sees Samantha leaving her house as she drives up. Something is off.

Eric’s cellphone and wrench are missing. The cellphone mysteriously ends up at Kendra’s house in the laundry. She keeps that bit of information from the detectives and asks her son if he has noticed his dad acting strange. He says that everyone has been acting strange and mentions that Heather snuck out of the house in the middle of the night when Eric was murdered.

Detectives return to ask Kendra and Peter a few more questions. Their son listens in on his webcams, which I guess are set up all over the house. (What a creeper this kid is!) In the line of questioning, Peter admits to seeing Eric after he found out about his wife sneaking around. He denies any involvement. We see the interaction via flashback, but the detectives (and Kendra) aren’t convinced.

Peter and Kendra argue some more, but eventually, he admits that he has been talking to Heather. They were actually having an affair, but he swears that it is over. He also admits to seeing Samantha’s car by Eric’s house the night he visited,

Kendra interrogates Samantha and accuses her of framing Peter for Eric’s murder. Kendra thinks that Samantha planted the phone and then stole the evidence back. Samantha kicks Kendra out of her house. (Which is fair!) The cops start to question Samantha, and she has more to add to the story. Peter attacked Eric, and she witnessed Peter punching Eric in the face.

Kendra is cautious of her husband and literally sleeps with one eye open. She sees him sneak off into the night and confronts him. She sees that he has the murder weapon and freaks out. She picks up the wrench (argh, fingerprints!!!!) and rushes to protect her son.

Langston runs from his mother’s cover and heads downstairs to grab a knife. He is distraught and screaming. Kendra and Peter calm their son down and he admits to killing Eric. He admits to learning about his parent’s affairs from his webcams and hacking their phones. Langston confronted Eric, who laughed at the kid. That made Langston angry, and he snapped. The parents reassure Langston and promise to keep him safe from jail. (I, on the other hand, would be calling 911!)

Peter buries the murder weapon in the woods, and Kendra has second thoughts about covering up a MURDER!!

Which she should because he goes and kills this bully next… THE END?!?!?

Side Note

Minority Report: Police Officer, Detectives,

The kid’s behavior makes him a typical Lifetime villain, but the movie fakes us out. It was an interesting tactic to have him as a sympathetic accidental killer, only to kill again at the end.
