Synopsis (via Lifetime)

When Lindsay Porter, a responsible mother and head of the local neighborhood watch program, falls for Stephen, the handsome new bachelor on the block, she begins to fear that she and her daughter’s lives may be in grave danger.

Thoughts

Lindsay had terrible dreams and worries about her teenage daughter Jamie. (She does that Lifetime thing, where you wake up gasping with terror. Has anyone ever done that for real?) The next morning on her way to yoga class, Lindsay waves to her beautiful neighbor/realtor, Kat, who is out for a jog. Daughter Jamie is making new friends too; she waves at the new hunky neighbor, Stephen.

At work, Lindsay overshares with a client about her ex and dating history. She has hot AF gay co-workers because it is a gym. On her way home, Lindsay checks in with the neighborhood security guard, Barrett, who confirms things are pretty dull. Then she runs into Stephen, who is looking for a gym recommendation. Lucky for him, Lindsey knows a place.

This town is gossipy! Lindsay’s BFF, Janet, pushes her to get back out and date again. They also hold a neighborhood board meeting where Rita comments on everyone’s parenting. Barrett is also there and seems to be vibing with Lindsay. No one notices because all the single ladies, the married ones, and the gays are into Stephen. (How could you not love Trevor Donovan? Such a hunk.)

Stephen shows up at the gym and intensely flirts with Lindsay. He asks her out on a date, and she agrees to go, BUT NOT AS A DATE! As a respectable neighbor. On the NOT date, Lindsay learns that he is a psychiatrist.

After the date, a gift shows up at Lindsay’s front door. It is a BBQ skewer set and a note that reads, “Don’t Get Burned.” Then she is conveniently invited to a BBQ at Kat’s house. (I hope she makes s’mores with those skewers.) The BBQ is pretty uneventful until Kat seduces Barrett while he is off the clock to get Stephen’s attention. Stephen couldn’t care less and fixates on Lindsay. They sleep together. Someone leaves rose petals in Lindsay’s house, resulting in the flowers dying. The police are called and begin investigating.

In the middle of the night, as Lindsay locks up her house, she sees someone lurking in her backyard. Lindsay grabs a frying pan to defend herself; luckily for her, Stephen shows up immediately to protect them. Barrett, the security guard, is jealous.

At another neighborhood meeting, Lindsay takes the stand and accuses her neighbors of breaking into her home. Stephen and Lindsay realize that Valerie, the new hire at the gym, is his jealous and vengeful ex-girlfriend. They try to confront Valerie, but she avoids them. They get into an argument and decide to cool it with the relationship.

Kat talks to Lindsay about Stephen and admits to hooking up with him in front of Barrett, and he storms off. Then Stephen wanders around his property in the middle of the night. Someone kills Valerie in his pool. The next morning, police arrest him, and he is taken in for questioning and then released.

Another neighborhood watch meeting happens, and Kat shames everyone. James, Lindsay’s ex-husband, shows up with a gun and almost kidnaps his daughter. Barrett is not much use, but Stephen takes James down. The police arrive again; I’m sure they are tired of coming to this neighborhood.

Two weeks later, Kat has a pool party. (at night.) The gays are there, Barrett makes amends with Kat, and Stephen is dating Lindsay. They all toast, and then the party is over. In the middle of the night, Lindsay finds Kat standing over Stephen’s stabbed body with a skewer. Barrett shows up to “protect” Lindsay, but he is the killer.

Barrett goes into his villain monologue, and he is still sexy. He did it all because He was trying to get rid of Stephen. It is really complicated and long. While he is talking, Jamie steals his gun, and they make a run for it. Barrett follows them slowly, like Michael Myers. (But sexy.) He kills Kat with the skewer and then pulls his gun and shoots at the mother/daughter duo.

Lindsay and Jamie run inside and UPSTAIRS, like true horror movie protagonists. They fight him, and Jamie takes him out with her drill team rifle. Lindsay uses a 10-lb dumbbell to finish him off, which is fitting since she is a trainer.

Stephen survives and is rolled away on a stretcher. The neighborhood watches as he is taken away.
