A former TV host tries to avoid spending Christmas at a luxury chalet with her ex-husband and his new girlfriend.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Teri Hatcher starts the movie off by baking! Her Son George stops by and tries to convince his mother to become a 50-year-old influencer. She laughs at his invitation to join him in Aspen. She quickly reconsiders after a fling with a man named Peter dumps her. with a bouquet of flowers and a note sent by delivery. (I wouldn’t be mad about that! Honestly.)
When she arrives in Aspen, Teri Hatcher is adorable in her winter attire and tries to bum a ride with a handsome wine man named Eric Tremblay. At first, he is rude to her and tells her that he can’t possibly fit her in the cab with his boxes of wine. Once he learns she is a hotel guest, he gives up his cab.
A child checks Teri Hatcher in at the Chalet but can’t find her reservation. Teri Hatcher is like, can I literally speak to an adult. Her uncle is THE WINE GUY/OWNER! They are fully booked, and Eric won’t accept Teri Hatch’s bribes or suggestions that she stay in their vila. The child suggests Teri Hatcher fill in as a Chalet Girl, who does the check-in, cleaning, and other tasks around the lodge. Peter doesn’t think Teri Hatcher is qualified, but she assured him she was on the PTA.
Teri Hatcher gets right to work.
(Well, first, she records a vlog entry and then refuses to wear a uniform.) Then she gets to decorating and gives a useful tip for her online viewers. Decorate to stripper music and shake your booty while you do it! (Haha, okay! )
Next, Teri Hatcher goes around with a ring light and works on creating content while working. She releases tutorials on making the bed, folding napkins, and skiing. Yes, she brings the ring light skiing) Eric sees her struggling and offers to give her a ski lesson during her lunch break. (That lesson doesn’t go great and Teri Hatcher just screams “PIZZA” and “FRENCH FRY” while falling.)
George is embarrassed because of his mother’s Chalet job. He is worried about PR and people misconstruing that she is poor. His dad is also there, and he is confused about why his ex-wife is also working as a Chalet girl. He offers to give her money when he finds her cleaning his room.
There is a British Lady there who owns the Chalet. Oh, she is Eric’s mother and is very posh. She tells Teri Hatcher that Eric’s sister died in a skiing accident, and he has taken over running the family business. Teri Hatcher talks about being an empty nester/single and figuring out what is next.
Chalet people are banned from dining with the guests, and Teri Hatcher isn’t having that. She uses her social media following and goes live while publically shaming the hostess and then tipping her as she walks to her table. Nicola is impressed with her co-worker and is into George when she meets him.
Montage of being a 50-year-old influencer. Which includes household tips and cooking. (Or Teri Hatcher talking to an unplugged ring light.)
The employees of the Chalet do a Secret Santa, and Teri Hatcher pulls Peter. (Of course.) They continue to do skiing lessons, and she helps cook a famous 7-course meal. Teri Hatcher is thrown off when she serves her ex-husband’s table. He asks her out for a drink, and she pours a bowl of soup in his lap.
When Teri Hatcher returns to her room, she becomes vulnerable with her following and admits how hard the night was, but she survives. She decides she wants to talk about real-life things online rather than cooking tips. She also talks about being wise with age and has learned to trust herself.
On their last ski lesson, Teri Hatcher and Eric exchange gifts because they got one another for Secret Santa. They ski down the hill to a weird song about your heart not being into Christmas. Teri Hatcher feels ready to ski with George and Charles. Eric tells her that she deserves better, and she doesn’t disagree.
Charles gives Teri Hatcher flowers to apologize for being his young girlfriend on the family vacation she wasn’t invited to. He apologizes for habitually messing up. He warns her that Eric is just treating her like he would any other guest.
That is till Eric wines and dines Teri Hatcher and opens up about his past relationships. Things go awry when Eric says he is looking for “Dinner and Fun.” Then, he continues to talk about how terrible Charles is and offends Teri Hatcher. She tells him he doesn’t know what type of relationship to have. Then, she excuses herself from the table.
Eric talks to his mother and asks for advice while Teri Hatcher reads love messages from Charles and her son George, who tells her she has “found her brand.”
The following day, Teri Hatcher goes skiing with her family, and it doesn’t go as planned. They end up ditching her and not even caring about her being there. She tells Charles that she wishes him well and isn’t going to make the same mistake twice.
Teri rushes back to cook Christmas dinner and is happy to see her son in the kitchen with her co-worker, who just got promoted to ASM! Teri Hatcher rushes to stop Eric from leaving for the airport. She throws snowballs at the car to get it to stop and tells Eric that they CAN be something together.
He wasn’t leaving for France. He was just going out to pick up some French wine. Eric tells her that he is not leaving her, and they kiss. She entrances him. They plan to spend many more Christmases together and make out hardcore! The end!
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
