Synopsis (via Lifetime)
Malorie is torn apart to see her fiance die on their wedding day before they can say “I do”. The autopsy report shows foul play, and she no longer knows who she can trust. After someone else who is close to Malorie is killed, she begins to fear that the murderer is closer to her than ever and she is left to wonder if she could be the next target. Starring Jess Brown, and Anna Kopacek (2024).
Recap/Wine Thoughts
A bride named Malory ascends the stairs, but not like you think. She is crying, and her ugly dress is splattered with blood!
Cut to before the wedding. Malory is looking forward to her wedding day, and her event planner/friend Franchesca has everything covered. Malory’s mother will be walking her down the aisle; her father is dead. Then Ryan, Malory’s ex-husband, shows up and tells her that he is in love with her.
The groom, Jon, talks to his daughter, Bridget, and thanks her for supporting him during the wedding. Pamela, Malory’s mother, is less so supportive. They work for a business going through a merger, and Jon is pushing Pamela out of her leadership role. Pamela gives Jon an energy drink and promises to talk later in the office.
Jon’s cousin, Zach, witnesses the whole thing and brings him a whiskey to help him destress. While they drink, Zach brings up his younger girlfriend Amy’s promotion in the company.
Word of Ryan gets to Jon, and he rushes to help his bride-to-be. Amy gives him a coffee from her favorite cafe.
Ryan leaves, and Franchesca’s hotel staff gifts the bride and groom a complimentary champagne, CHAMPAGNE!!!! (A poisoning is about to go down, and we are rounding out the suspects.)
At the altar, Jon starts coughing and causes a scene. (THE WEDDING!) He coughs up blood, and the man is a goner. Now we are back in Malory after having a well-deserved breakdown. Pamela and Franny console her and take Malory home. It is not the honeymoon she was expecting.
The Detective working the case has news about the autopsy and gathers Zac, Pam, and Malory. (Bridget, Jon’s daughter, is too upset to join them.) The Detective tells them someone positioned Jon approximately half an hour before the ceremony. Malory has news, too; she is pregnant!
Malorie calls Franny, and her BFF is quick to blame Ryan. They work together to narrow down the guest list for potential suspects. (She also talks about a housekeeper who may have seen something.) Franchesca goes home after a long day of work, and someone stabs her to death. (Malorie finds the body, can she catch a break.)
Zac and Amy are also trying to solve the murder for Bridget’s sake. They also conclude it must have been Ryan.
Ryan, ironically, is the only one to come to Malorie and offer his condolences. Malorie responds by telling him she is pregnant.
At the firm, Pamela keeps her job, Amy gets promoted, and Scot takes on all the cases. Bridget is just kind of there bopping around.
The Detective rounds up everyone’s alibi for Franny’s murder, and the only person without a solid alibi is Amy. The police find Strychnine in Pamela’s office. Malorie is sure someone planted the evidence.
At the reading of the will, everyone is surprised to learn that Jon and Malorie eloped before the wedding. We get a full-fledged flashback of Jon and Malorie getting married in Vegas. (Which is pointless.) Then, it is revealed that Bridget gets half and Malorie gets half. Bridget is upset, and when she vents to Amy, Amy suggests Malorie married Jon for the money.
Malorie starts having stress nightmares about intruders and resorts to baking to cope. She also has a heart-to-heart relationship talk with her mother, and she tells Pamela to stop pushing Ryan on her. Pamela can’t help but get involved. They hatch a plan to get more intel on Amy since Malorie caught Amy having an affair. (They rope Bridget into the plan.)
It doesn’t make sense because she doesn’t work there, but pregnant Malorie goes to look through Amy’s office in the middle of the night. She finds an engagement ring and a note from a guy named Miles before someone almost catches her snooping. They chase her out and push her down the stairs. (The baby!!!)
In the hospital, the doctor says Malorie only has a minor concussion, and the baby is stable. Pamela is by her side, and they realize that the person who pushed Malorie down the stairs stole her phone. When Amy hears the news, she chops some celery VERY mysteriously.
Malorie shares her concerns about Amy with Zac and Bridget. When Zac talks to Amy about her relationship with Miles and the engagement ring, Amy tells Zac that Miles was blackmailing her for the BIG merger!
We are gearing up for a third act, which is getting tedious. Pamela goes missing, and everyone calls one another to find out where she is. Pamela is with Bridget, helping her pick out an outfit for Jon’s funeral. When Bridget goes upstairs to put some clothing away, Pamela finds Malorie’s phone!!!!
Malorie rushes to save her mom, but Bridget pulls a knife on her and her mother. Bridget ordered the champagne, but Malorie was pregnant and didn’t even drink it. Bridget also admits to killing Franny and attempting to frame Pamela. Ryan shows up and struggles over the knife, accidentally stabbing Bridget.
The merger goes off without a hitch, and the baby is there for a painting unveiling of Jon. Bridget is in jail; who knows what happened to Ryan, but that guy deserves more!
