Falling on Santa’s Naughty or Nice list used to be a call made by Santa and his elves. But with the number of kids worldwide skyrocketing, Santa has outsourced the job to the Naughty or Nice Group, a consulting firm that has cornered the market on determining a child’s niceness thanks to an airtight formula. As a top inspector with the group, it’s Isabel’s (Chabert) job to make the tough calls, by assessing the children on her list and assigning a verdict. When she is tasked with evaluating a mischievous 11-year-old Charlie Duncan, she expects a routine case. But things get complicated when Isabel unexpectedly falls for Charlie’s widowed father, Jason (Walker), and begins to question the rigid rules of her job. As Christmas approaches, Isabel must choose between following the holiday algorithm or following her heart.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Lacey Chabert is a naughty or nice inspector. She has blended in her whole life, until she is SEEN by Andrew Walker. They bump into one another, and Lacey Chabert drops her note on a naughty kid.
Lacey Chabert works at a Naughty or Nice office. She spends the holidays working and not enjoying them. Her assistant thinks Lacey Chabert is too cut-and-dry, her co-worker Oscar invites her to Karaoke, and her boss, Rudolph, has an algorithm to keep kids off the naughty list.
While out on another stakeout, Lacey Chabert runs into Andrew Walker again. He can’t place her, but he recognizes her and asks her out on a date. Their date is cut short when his daughter, Charley, fakes being sick. THAT WILL GET HER ON the naughty list.
Did I mention that Andrew Walker is playing a widower in this old-fashioned Hallmark Christmas? It explains why his daughter is on the naughty list because she is acting out. After all, she misses her mom!
Lacey Chabert tries to come clean about her job, but no one believes her, of course. It doesn’t matter because AI will replace her soon.
Andrew Walker tells Lacey Chabert about his worries that his daughter might end up on the naughty list. They go up to the North Pole and talk to Santa’s assistant, Doug. Santa fixes everything. Horray!
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
This was quirky and fun, not necessarily a romcom, but I think that is fine.
