Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Forced to give up her daughter for adoption when she’s underage, Laura is thrilled to welcome her now adult daughter Bree back into her life. She quickly discovers that Bree is a sociopath with murderous tendencies and poses a clear and present danger to anyone who threatens to get in her way.

Thoughts

We start of with a woman named Laura who is in Labor. She is a teen and her mother is also in the OR. After giving birth the baby is taken away and Laura is freaking out.

We start off with a woman named Laura, who is in Labor. She is a teen, and her mother is also in the OR. After giving birth, the baby is taken away, and Laura is freaking out.

20 years later. Laura is grown and has a husband (Michael) and a teen daughter (Skyler). They discuss how dessert is making Americans fat…. (Really shady, Canadian writer, very shady.) The doorbell rings, and Laura goes to investigate. At the door is a young woman who is looking for “the Andersons,” Laura tells the young woman that she must have the wrong house.

Laura and her hot AF husband, who looks like a knock off Marc Blucas, lay in bed and talk about how perfect their life is. Laura is worried that things will go bad, and since this is a Lifetime movie… we know to trust the woman’s intuition here.

The next morning the girl shows up again and admits that she isn’t really looking for the Andersons, she is looking for Laura, and she is her daughter… Bree. She found Laura via a company called Lighthouse for the Lost. Laura tells Bree that she never wanted to put her up for adoption, but her parents did it without her consent. She has been estranged from them for 20 years. Bree tells Laura that the Hogans adopted her, and she has an adopted sister. They hug and promise to stay in touch.

Conveniently enough, Laura’s parents have been found dead by carbon monoxide poisoning, and the police believe that there is foul play. The police can’t imagine who would want to hurt her parents… Except for maybe, Laura. She has been estranged from her parents for 20 years. Laura is still mad at her parents for ruining her reunion with her long lost daughter.

Bree meets the family, and it is awkward! Skyler is perfect and amazing, but Bree is sad and still wears cold shoulder tops. The girls go do each other’s nails while the parents order pizza. They talk about boys, and Bree tells Skyler that she has always wanted a sister… not the one she has… as a sister by BLOOD. Bree also tells the family that her adopted family is supportive of her decision to get to know her birth family.

Bree offers to pick up Skyler from school, and Laura is all about it. (Michael, on the other hand, is a bit suspicious.) While trying to leave school, Skyler gets jumped by a group of girls, and Bree interrupts and learns that this happens a lot to Skyler. Bree confronts the bully, Chloe, and beats her down and threatens to carve up her face if she messes with Skyler again. Then she knees her in the face. Haha, it was hilarious

Michael brings up that he is uncomfortable with Bree being so involved in their life. He tells Laura that they didn’t raise Bree, and they don’t even know her. Laura wants to treat Bree like a member of the family, and Michael goes along with it… for one commercial break. Chloe’s dad stops by and accuses Skyler of threatening his daughter. Bree admits to talking with Chloe and that his tone may have been too harsh. Laura sides with Bree and is so happy that she was there for Skyler. (Michael is STILL suspicious.)

At a family BBQ, Gareth (Michael’s tech co-worker with kooky hair) tells Bree that he has looked into who she really is… on the internet and tells her that she hasn’t been honest. Bree asks him if he has told anyone anything, and he says no. When he is peeing in the alley, Bree comes up behind him and hits him in the head with a rock. She kills him and then finishes the whiskey he was drinking. Haha, this girl is so badass. (AND she washes her hands after she kills him, so classy.) Michael asks another co-worker to look into Bree because he thinks it is all too convenient, and he doesn’t trust her. Will the other co-worker die too? Probably.

The police (with their badges on full display/) are back and want to talk with Michael, alone. They had determined that Laura’s parents were murdered, and a witness saw a young woman lurking around the house when they were killed. The police interrogate Michael and poke around his shed… where Gareth’s body is stashed.

The co-worker checks Bree out, and everything looks fine. Bree opens up to Skyler about her adopted family. Her sister Jessica would act out because she was jealous of Bree and go placed in a mental institution. Skyler is like WTF. Then, she finds a ring with an inscription on it in Bree’s bag. She, too, is becoming suspicious of Bree.

Laura, on the other hand, wants Bree to move into the house and brings it up to her husband and daughter. They are like, ummmmm no.

Skyler uses her Generation Z skillz and tracks Bree’s family home address. She goes and talks with Bree’s family. They confirm everything that Bree told Skyler. Except for the face that Bree isn’t Bree, she is Jessica the neglected real daughter!!!!! Skyler calls her mom and tries to warn her.

One of the hot cops finds Gareth’s body and immediately gets killed by Bree/Jessica. Like a lady, she washes her hands after killing the hot cop, but it seems like Bree/Jessica is losing it. Laura comes home and gets hit in the head with a vase by Bree/Jessica and ties her up by the pool. Bree/Jessica has her villain monologue, where she catches Laura up to speed on everything. (Basically, she killed Laura’s parents, and now she will kill Laura for being a little teen slut,) Skyler shows up and tells Jessica that she visited her family. Bree/Jessica punches Skyler in the face, and then they get into an all-out brawl. Bree/Jessica is strangeling Skyler when Laura breaks free and knocks Bree/Jessica out. Michael and the other hot cop shows up and take Bree/Jessica away in handcuffs.

At the hospital, we learn that Jessica is back in the institution. Who Cares if she murders four people. Laura meets the REAL Bree. The real Bree thanks, Laura, for giving her life, and they hold hands and hug.

Jessica is in group therapy, looking at a photo and scratching Bree’s face off a picture. She promises to make her next family love her.

  1. My favorite part of this movie was when Bree hits Gareth with a rock and his eyes go wide and he looks so scared of this 5 foot tall girl. LOL
