Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Every December in the small town of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, a wooden wishing box is placed in the park as a Christmas tradition. People write down their true heart’s desire on a slip of paper and place it in the box in hopes that their wish will be granted. After a night out together, Maddie (Park) encourages her sister Faith (Burton) to put a wish in the box – a wish to experience true love for the first time. Faith and Maddie are surprised the next day when she meets the very handsome and eligible Andrew (de la Fuente). At first, Faith thinks that her Christmas wish has come true. But as Christmas nears, Faith begins to wonder if Andrew is really perfect for her, or if the wish is leading her to her best friend, Wyatt

Thoughts

Faith grew up writing Christmas wishes and putting them in a mailbox to have them granted by the wish committee or something bigger. As she has grown up, Faith has lost her faith. (Poor Faith!)

Pam Grier shows up and drops Christmas gifts all over the ground because her shoes are terrible. Faith gives her even MORE ugly/terrible shoes. Pam Grier thanks Faith and her friend/co-worker, Wyatt, then she mistakes them for a couple.

At work, Faith teaches art to kids, and Wyatt is a teacher, too, maybe. Stanford from Sex and the City is the principal of the school, and he has to cut the art program for computer labs. When he tells Faith, she takes it better than I would. She has the rest of the year to clear out her things and find a new job. Wyatt comforts her and is very sweet and reassuring. While working the car pick up, (Nice detail.) Faith and Wyatt talk Christmas plans. He is JEWISH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Faith comes home and sees her sister Maddie (The fabulous, Mehan Park.) and her new boyfriend Ryan (played by Lee Norris. (Minkus from Boy Meets World) have both come home for the holidays. The family is cute, and they make celebrity gingerbread. Including; The grinch, a ninja turtle, and Bea Arthur!!!! Who they say is the best Golden Girl, and they aren’t wrong. (I’m loving this quirky family.) After the parents go to bed, the sisters go to the mailbox and make a Christmas Wish. Maddie wishes for her sister to have true loves kiss.

Faith meets a new neighbor named John, and they seem to have a flirty thing going on. So do Maddie and Ryan until she finds an engagement ring in his bag. Faith keeps getting male suitors; she runs into a man named Andrew, who asks her out.

Wishes start to get granted all around the town. Wishes dropped in the mailbox are distributed to the citizens of the town to help complete. They can be as simple as theatre tickets or as elaborate as a flash mob.

Pam Grier is back and still as magical as ever. She is happy to see Faith and Wyatt together. The meet-cutes keep happening to Faith. A handsome bearded man spills hot coffee on her, and she is not impressed and slightly injured. (Thank you for finally acknowledging hot things burn skin!) Wyatt takes care of her and then invites her to help decorate his Christmas tree, Faith has a date and can’t.

On her date with Andrew, Faith tells him that she did some online research on him. They toast to being where they should be. Faith recaps the date with her sister and even with Wyatt. Despite maybe finding “the one,” the breaded man with coffee still keeps bumping into him.

Grant and James are gay parents, and I think Wyatt is living with them. I loved that we get to see a different type of family in these movies. Thank you, Lifetime.

At a Christmas party, while trying to network and land a new job, Faith keeps having meet-cutes to the point of getting her angry. Next, Faith does all the wishes things to try and turn off her wish. She blows out birthday candles, throws coins in a fountain, sits on Santa’s lap, but none of it works. Even the photographer at Santa’s Village hit on her. Faith settles for Andrew and kisses him to try to make it stop, but then she gets hit on by a delivery guy!

Wyatt comes over and tells Faith that he has feelings for her. She is surprised that he wants to be more than just friends. Faith tells him that he is confused, and it is just the wish. He tells her that he loves her, and she starts to cry.

Minkus finally proposes to Maddie, and he knew the whole time that she found the ring. She says yes, and the entire family applauses.

Faith puts on an art show of her student’s work. Wyatt gifts Faith some heels, like from the beginning of the movie. His friend confirms that Wyatt has been in love with her for a long time. They meet at the wish box, and Faith admits that she is in love with Wyatt too! He was making a wish also, and it was to be with Faith. They kiss with a beautiful Christmas tree behind them.

Side Note

Minority Report: Faith’s new neighbor, John, and his son. The kid who’s wish gets made and his grandfather.
