Thoughts
Tara Reid is coaching a cheerleader on her back handspring. Someone watches from afar and maybe kills her??? Tara Reid, my spirit animal? Noooooo!
Hanna and her father, Jon, move from Chicago. Jon works at the school and meets Ms. Vivica A Fox (Who plays a PE teacher and Cheering Coach). She introduces him to Devin, who is the assistant cheerleading coach who wears midriffs. Then she yells at her (very fine) trainer for asking her if she is into the new teacher, Don.
Hannah plans on trying out for the team and has a sexy neighbor named Ben. He offers to give her a ride to school after almost breaking into her house. Jon is not impressed with the idea but lets his daughter go with him because “she is almost an adult.”
Jon meets his new co-worker Melissa, and she is smoking hot. The movie tries to downplay it with glasses, but it is not working. She offers to give Jon restaurant suggestions and puts her number in his phone. Meanwhile, Devan works out with her hot trainer again and then threatens to claim he is sexually assaulting her when he touches her arm. (This woman has got issues.)
A cheerleading training montage happens. Then Ms. Vivica A Fox gives an inspirational speech, and I think I might need to be a cheerleader now. It is my calling. The girls do some wack cheering, and afterward, Devan offers to give Hanna private lessons to get closer to Hannah’s “daddy.” Then she goes to therapy and yells at her therapist. Finally, she visits her HOT AF trainer and kills him. (RIP, Jack! played by Jensen Atwood from Noah’s Arc.)
Melissa finally comes through on that date with Jon. Meanwhile, Hannah trains (She can do a front walkover, which is impressive.) and tells Ms. Vivica A Fox about it Devian helping her, and Ms. Vivica becomes suspicious.
Devan has already gone off the deep end, but it keeps getting worse. She pops out from behind a counter, scares Jon, gives him parenting advice, and comes onto him sexually. All of which he turns down.
At a deep dish pizza party. Everyone makes fun of Hannah for calling soda “pop.” Claire shares horror stories she has heard about Devan and plans of keeping her distance. She also makes fun of a kid name Joey for being a loser.
Meanwhile, Jon is on his Date with Melissa. He opens up about his wife passing away from cancer. Devan is there too, lurking in the background in a black hoodie. Then she breaks into their house and snoops around. The next day Devan wears glasses to be more like Melissa. She brings over Chinese and inserts herself into Hannah and Jon’s lives. Jon tells Devan to leave and really sets her off. (I thought she was going to flip the table. Jon talks to Ms. Vivica A Fox, and she promises to look into the matter. She follows up with Devan, who apologizes. Then puts her on final notice for giving private lessons.
The next day in practice, Devan is particularly harsh on Hannah. Ms. Vivica A Fox sees the outburst and tells Devan that she must treat the squad with RESPECT. Hannah cries in the stairwell and is comforted by Claire. Devan watches while seething.
Hannah and Ben visit Tara Reid! They find out from her unmoving boxed face that Devan is dangerous and was obsessed with another cheerleader’s dad. Tara
Reid tells them not to tell Devan she said anything.
Melissa leaves work and walks into the parking lot, and is hit by a car. (Driven by Devan) She doesn’t die but is admitted into the hospital looking rough. A hot detective questions them and says there is nothing he can do for them except eye candy.
With two minutes left in the movie, Devan kills her therapist. Hannah confronts Devan with the information she has learned and cockily walks away with her friend Claire. Hannah forgets something in her locker and goes back into the locker room alone. Devan and screams attack her. Ben shows up and does nothing. Luckily, Mrs. Vivica A Fox is there to hit her with a hockey stick and say the film!!!!!!
One Year Later, another hotter widow dad hires Devan to be his daughter’s cheerleading coach. Dun Dun Dun

Good review, Patrick! As someone who has also seen this movie, I must admit there is not a lot of cheerleading in this film. Almost any athletic extracurricular activity could have been placed in this story and it wouldn’t have made a difference.
