Recap/Wine Thoughts
The movie begins with a murder mystery where Hayley lives her murder mystery fantasy laying out the rules on a stormy night.
The business is struggling, and co-workers Victoria and Charles Benedict are responsible for her masterminding the murder mystery weekends. Hailey has a talent and no life outside of event planning. Roy, the mechanic, is fired for budget reasons and is pissed off and sexy.
While getting ready, Hayley almost gets locked in an upstairs room from the outside by an actor/crush named Jackson.
The murder mystery takes place in the 1920s, and the house has a secret speakeasy and many hidden passageways. The guests arrive. There is Jenifer Coolige, wannabe Diana, nerd Evie, and the gay couple Dwayne and Reggie. They all turn their cell phones into a lockbox and will enjoy no modern amenities.
The last guest to arrive is Gordon Ramshaw, who is very serious and mysterious.
Hayley goes through the paces of the murder mystery. The fortuneteller is “murdered” when the lights go out during a storm. The game is afoot, and the guests have the weekend to figure out whodunit!
Charles is thrilled with how the first night went well that he tells Hayley she is like a daughter to him, which is awkward because he is Jackson’s actual stepdad. Charles goes to his office and signs some papers as he is bludgeoned to death with a clock.
Hayley and Jackson hear the noise while making out and go to investigate. The power goes out as they search. Hayley makes it to the study and finds the body. They go to call 911, but all the cell phones are missing! The gates to the manor are also locked. This was planned.
The guests are completely unaware of the actual murder. That is until Diana hears a splash in the fountain and finds the phones have been ruined. Hayley accuses Diana of sabotaging the weekend. Diana laughs because she has been an angel investor and backing the murder mystery secretly. Diana wants to tell the other guests, but Hayley has another idea. Work it into the game.
The guests are into it and willingly lock themselves in their rooms. Jackson and Hayley are the only ones with the keys and they lock themselves in the sitting room for the night.
While Jackson checks the breakers in the garage, Hayley is attacked by someone wearing a red facemask and Zorro hat. (It is a choice, and, hey, they must have a costume room!)
Gordon is the next to end up dead because he didn’t stay in his room. He had blueprints for the manor and was killed with Hayley’s scarf.
Dwayne and Reggie are the next suspects, but they sneak out for a romantic proposal, NOT a murder!
Diana helps with the search now and admits that she came to the weekend to experience it for one last time because Charles was planning on selling the business. They find a burned deed.
Roy, apparently didn’t leave and carries gun!!!! They tie him up and interrogate him. He tells them that Victoria, Jackson’s mother, and co-owner, was having an affair. Hayley doesn’t know who to believe. They tie Roy up and leave him in the attic.
Jackson jumps the front gate and rushes to get the police. Hayley stays behind to keep everyone safe from……
DIANA and JACKSON! They were working together to frame Hayley. They take Hayley via wheelbarrow to a grave they have dug. What they aren’t counting on is Roy breaking free of his restraints in the attic.
Hayley unties herself and fights with Jackson while explaining how he cut the power and framed Roy to make him doubt him. Jackson was jealous that Charles liked Hayley more than him.
The bad guys get caught, and Hayley gets the manor to continue murder mystery-ing

Am about 15-20min and am asking myself why am I goin against Patrick’s advice aout putting a cork in it. The acting is atrocious. The best is the lead actress and even that isn’t the best. I was wondering if the are in character character within the movie. But am going to soldier thru because I love a closed mystery. And am looking forward to reading your comments
