Recap/Wine Thoughts
Side Note
The movie starts on a rainy day in the sleepy side of Boston, where we see Farrah. She is on dating apps dating multiple women., as friends! (Lifetime isn’t ready for a Lesbian protagonist yet. Soon I would imagine.)
Andi is new to town and is up for a job. Her potential boss isn’t impressed that Andi moved to town to be closer to her boyfriend, and Andi doesn’t get the job. She calls her boyfriend, Sean; he is a rookie cop. Andi and Sean have a cute relationship, but they aren’t ready to move into one another.
To meet new people, Andi joins the app BeFriends because she has trouble making friends post-college. (It is a common problem for adults moving to a new city.) Andi fills out her profile and says she likes Volleyball, Lizzo, and Rose’.
Farrah, thee not Lesbian, messages Andi and they talk about books. (I miss books, Lifetime has taken up my reading time.) The two make a friend date for coffee. It goes well, and they take photos in front of a random flower wall.
Sean is happy that his girlfriend has found a new friend, but he is skeptical that Farrah is as well connected in Boston as she says.
Farrah gets Andi into the most exclusive clubs. She introduces Andi and a group of girls to her boyfriend, Ethan, who is hot and generous. (He buys everyone shots.) They all party hard. A guy named Jason calls Andi “Exotic,” and he is a CREEP! Andi literally pushes him off her and tells Ethan and Farrah that she is leaving.
Jason chases Andi out of the bar and tries to apologize, but she gets away. He goes back inside and roofies someone else. (Ugh!) The woman later confronts Farrah with marks on her neck. Ethan blackmails Kayla with photos of her sexual assault. (YIKE BAD GUY)
Sean RANDOMLY breaks up with Andi because of his “work schedule.” Andi is pissed because she moved to Boston for him. She storms off and calls her only friend in town, Farrah. Farrah steps up and shows up for Andi.
Farrah runs into a “friend” from high school, who is RUDE AS HELL! Farrah embarrassedly tells Andi that she wasn’t cool in high school. Ethan has given her a lot of confidence.
The girls go out again, and Ethan joins with another asshole friend. Andi is really put off and takes time to herself on the roof. A guy named Charlie talks to Andi and apologizes for Ethan’s poor taste in friends, even though he is one of them. Charlie explains they are all a part of a millionaire club with the most exclusive and wealthy men in town.
Andi worries about how controlling Ethan is to Farrah and expresses her concern. Farrah tells her that Ethan makes her feel like she is in a dream.
Kayla, the woman Jason roofied, is run over in a parking garage before she can go to the police. She ends up in a coma.
Andi gets a job in the same building as Jason and Shannon. Shannon gives Andi her number and calls Farrah a “sad, stupid girl.” Shannon turns out to be concerned that the club/Ethan is shady.
The girls go out for a night to celebrate Andi, and Ethan crashes. He buys them all drinks and roofies them. Andi is unimpressed and skips the drink; she takes her friends out of the club because they are obviously drugged. Andi wants to go to the police, but her friends do not want to be the whistle-blowers and are afraid of Ethan.
Andi remembers that Sean is a police officer and meets him for advice. He tells her that there is not much he can do.
That all changes when Shannon is murdered in the stairwell at work after talking with Andi. Andi thinks Ethan killed Shannon to keep the boys club a secret; she copies files from Ethan’s iPad of incriminating texts between him and Farrah. Andi doesn’t want to turn her BFF in and asks Sean if there is immunity for Farrah to testify against Ethan.
Andi confronts Farrah and asks her to stop baiting girls into Ethan’s sexual assault ring. Farrah doesn’t see a way to go against Ethan. Andi tries to break through to her, and Farrah agrees to stop him.
Before they can put the plan in motion, Ethan breaks into Andi’s house and drugs Andi. Then he beats Farrah into submission. Ethan destroys the evidence that is on Andi’s phone, but not before Andi sends a voice note to Sean that she recorded while he was sharing his plans via villain monologue.
Ethan and his guys lock Andi and Farrah in a private room in the club. Charlie, who seems nice, is also in it. Sean busts in and arrests the bad guys just in time!
Weeks later, Andi reads a story about the friend trafficker ring, and the story goes viral. Sean tells her he wants her back in his life if she would be open to that. Andi is, but she wants to focus on her friendships as well.
Molly, Miranda, and Andi have coffee. They invite Farrah to join them. Farrah was treated badly by Ethan and didn’t deserve to be manipulated like she was. The women are VERY understanding and forgive Farrah and empower her to move forward. That is what friendship is all about, I guess.
Side Note
The movie’s message about friendship was a nice change of pace, even though I would ditch all my friends to date Ignacyo Matynia. LOL!

OK tonight I finally figured out what’s going on. The boob size cleared it up. I didn’t realize that Ravell Carpenter and Grace Patterson are almost identical. I wondered why the boobs kept growing and decreasing on different movies. And the pitch of the voice. Now I know it’s 2 different ladies.
