Synopsis (via Hallmark)

This holiday season, festive Carley sets out to conquer her list of abandoned resolutions from last year. Aided by co-worker Wyatt, she finds love and the confidence to chase her dreams.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Carley works in an office and is next is line for a promotion. At the work holiday party, she gets picked over due to nepotism and has to train the boss’s son, Wyatt, for the job.

Jamie is Carley’s best friend, and she worries about Carley’s risk aversion. Carley makes a list of what she will step out of her comfort zone for the next year, and pinky promises that she will.

Flash forward to one year later, and not much has changed. Carley has a new roommate but still works at the same dull office job. She has aspirations for fashion design but has never pursued it.

Wyatt is RICH AF. He lets Carley do his work for him and just gets lunch for his best friend, Brad. Things go wrong with quality control, and that falls under Wyatt. To make a change, Carley takes the blame, and she is fired. Wyatt also gets an ultimatum from his dad to take his job seriously, OR he will be cut off.

Carley sulks in her PJs when Wyatt stops by to apologize and let her know she will be getting a generous holiday severance. Wyatt tells her that he is going to DA CLUB! Carley joins him because she is saying “yes” to things.

The next day, Carley stops by Wyatt’s NYC mansion. She is surprised to see that he has staff and people who do his decorating for him. She shows him a new version of the list on glossy card stock! Carley asks Wyatt to help her with the list because he puts himself out there and takes risks! In exchange, Carley will help Wyatt not be so reliant on his father’s trust fund.

The movie starts working through the list but in a stylistic and fun way. (Which is different for a list movie!)

Running doesn’t go well!

At a wrapping party, Wyatt almost blows the news about Carley getting fired. She hasn’t told her mother because she doesn’t want to worry her. Then they go out to make new friends. Wyatt plans an elaborate evening of exclusive New York events. Carley would rather walk around and look at people’s Christmas trees in their windows. She asks Wyatt to be her friend officially.

BAKING MONTAGE!

Jamie returns to time and is happy to see a change for the better in her friend. Carley credits the list and Wyatt.

Wyatt has some significant changes, too. He takes Carley to look for apartments to rent, and they pretend to be a couple. He moves into a new apartment, and Carley makes him decorate with her. She gets out a box of decorations that belonged to his mother, and they put them up in her memory.

Carley’s mom finds out about her losing her job, and at first, the mother is upset. Carley apologizes for keeping things, but when her mother sees Carley’s fashion designs, she wants her daughter to follow her dreams.

Carley runs the Santa 5K as Wyatt cheers her on. Somehow, she wins the whole thing?

Just as it seems like Carley is hitting her stride, she has a mishap with the dress she designs and becomes discouraged. Perhaps she should get her old job back.

Speaking of jobs, Wyatt’s dad wants him to run the family business. Wyatt rejects the offer because he wants to be close to his dad, not his protege.

At a New Year party, Waytt and Carley makeout while fireworks go off. Yay!

Note/Stray Thoughts

This movie really resonates with me this year because I’ve been risk-averse and have been thinking about making a change. Now, I just need a wealthy Wyatt to come into my life.

Evan Roderick not sleeping shirtless is soooo disappointing.
