nspired by one of Ann Rule’s earliest true crime works, Danger in the Dorm, tells the story of Kathleen (Clara Alexandrova) after the tragic murder of her childhood best friend and fellow classmate, Becky. Now, she must shed her rebellious youthful spirit in order to catch a killer who’s preying on young girls around campus, even as her mother, Joanne (Bethnney Frankel), tries to protect Kathleen from suffering the same fate as her friend.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
The movie starts on a college campus, and a co-ed is walking home alone at night. Someone with a tire iron attacks her.
Cut to one month earlier. The college campus is thriving, and it is move-in day. Adult BFFs/Mothers Carol and Bethenny Frankel drop their daughters off and help them move into their large room. Kathleen and Becky are excited to be roommates and sign up for clubs. Bethenny Frankel and her daughter, Kate, argue about her losing her virginity before they even get settled. Kate is ready to “spread her wings.” (Becky clings to her friend and takes the same classes. Which is annoying.)

Kate meets a few boys on campus: a nerd named Patrick and a lawyer wanna-be named Wade. He invites the girls to a party, and they arrive looking like they are going to prom. The friends get separated, and Beth starts freaking out; on her way out, she bumps into Patrick and a rude guy named Conor. Kate and Beth have a blow-up fight back in their dorm room, and Kate wants to move out.
The next day, Beth drops all the classes they took together and joins the feminism group. Conor is in the group, and Beth is annoyed with him. She leaves and runs into Patrick again. They chat about romantic comedies, and she tells him she will stay in and watch a movie. It is the last thing she does because someone murders Becky in her dorm.

The movie flashes through the friends lives in photos.
A detective confirms that Beth is dead, and the girls on the dorm floor freak out. Kate is in a daze. Back at home, Carol tells Bethenny Frankel what happened, and Bethenny Frankel frantically calls Kate. (Who doesn’t answer.) The Detective later questions Kate about the fight they had and moving out right before the murder. The police released a statement saying the campus is safe and not to worry. (But they didn’t figure out what happened.)
Kate and the RA Sarah make their own announcement in the school paper and radio station, stating that no one is safe until Becky’s killer is found. Then, another student is killed while doing laundry. Panic sets in on campus, and the administration even allows students to drop the semester and restart in the spring. Bethenny Frankel wants her daughter to come home and goes into a monologue about safety with a capital S. Kate refuses because she needs to be there for Beth.

The students on campus distribute pepper spray and whistles to everyone. They chaperone one another to class and ensure that no one walks alone.
The Detective sits down with Kate again and implicates Wade. Kate defends him until he throws a party called “Party Till You Die.” Kate tells him to lose her number and runs off, leaving RA Sarah alone to take pictures for the school paper. She pepper sprays Conor after he locks her in a room, playing a “prank.” Wade and Conor are suspended.
For some reason, they are still on campus, and Conor is choked in the cafeteria. (Later, we learn that he strangled himself to avoid being a suspect.) Wade is caught by the police with a knife when the Detective questions Kate. Bethenny Frankel goes full Housewives and tells them not to speak to her without a lawyer.
Back to the attack that started the movie, another student sees what is happening and screams for help. The students catch the killer. He is someone we’ve never seen before, so that is interesting.

Bethenny Frankel and Kate have mother bonding time. Then, news of the attacker is released. The suspect confesses to all the attacks, but WHY! (His statement is vague.) Bethenny Frankel and Kate go to a memorial for Becky and Kate continues on with college and hanging out with Wade.

Patrick sees Kate walking alone outside and offers to walk with her. They make small talk, he brags about making fake IDs. Kate sees that Patrick can hack into the magnetic door locks and sneak through campus undetected. He takes her to the computer lab to show her how it is done and Kate reluctantly goes along and ends up emails for help. (Which surprisingly has to be a first for Lifetime.)
Patrick calls Kate a “mean bitch”, Kate pepper sprays him and calls him a “piece of shit!” (Okay, werk!) The police haul him away.

Kate has a final moment talking with her dead friends picture and leaves a stuffed animal. The End!
