After her daughter disappears from a gas station, a mother’s race against time uncovers a chilling truth buried beneath a quiet town’s surface. Vinessa Antoine, Arista Arhin, and Aaron Poole star. (2026)
Recap/Wine Thoughts
The movie starts in a scrap yard where a teenage girl is locked in a trailer. She manages to escape, but doesn’t get away from a masked killer that looks straight out of an 80’s teen slasher.

Cut to Whitney and Eric, a cute high school couple, not getting murdered… yet. Eric gives Mel some star-and-moon earrings, and it’s too much of a featured moment NOT to come back.
Megan, Whitney’s mother, watches on from a distance. She teaches at the school, but they leave school early to go to a music festival. Megan and Whitney got into an argument and went through a lot of exposition. Megan doesn’t approve of Eric, her husband just died, and Whitney is a cyber hacker who can trigger fire alarms.

After arguing, they stop at a gas station, and Whitney is kidnapped from the bathroom. Megan chases after them, thinking it is Eric, and gets pulled over for going 50 miles per hour over the speed limit. The police are particularly unhelpful in this Lifetime movie, and it is aggravating.

Meanwhile, Whitney is locked in a trailer, like the first girl, and surprise, surprise, the star-and-moon earrings fall out of her ears. What is actually a surprise is that another woman, Beth, is trapped with her. She has been there for YEARS!!! Beth is the only girl who has lasted and tries to give Whitney advice on how to appease their kidnapper.
There is an unlikely pairing of Megan and Eric, who band together to find Whitney. They find one of her earrings and bring it to the police, who are EVEN MORE RUDE. Megan learns about other missing girls and traces them to the gas station bathroom. When she goes to investigate, Megan is attacked, but Eric saves her. Why was he so close by?

Whitney talks to the Burlap Sack Head, and he is REALLY weird. He tells her he took her to keep her safe. I think he sings about wanting to be special. Whitney actually emotionally manipulates Burlap Sack Head, and he gives her a Kaboodel.
Eric is arrested and is the cops’ number one suspect. Eric accuses the police of covering up the kidnapping and being involved. He sets the sheriff off by accusing him to his face, and gets hit by a car. He is deserted in a parking lot, and Eric shares his suspicions with her. While he is maybe dying?
While all that is going on, Whitney hacks into a phone and leaves her mom a voicemail with clues to her whereabouts. She is captured on camera because they are being auctioned online. (Which is obviously horrific.)

Megan searches for her daughter solo, breaks into the police station, and finds her daughter’s cellphone. She also hacks into his government computer and finds videos of the trafficked girl and the Burlap Sack Head. It turns out, the police chief is only doing all these bad things because another deputy, Troy, is blackmailing him.

Troy is behind everything and working with his brother, Burlap Sack Head. They sell girls on the dark web. They were abused as children, and the movie recaps all the meddling the brothers have been doing throughout the whole movie.
Whitney uses her bond with Burlap Sack Head to turn him against his brother. The police chief shoots Troy and saves the day. His wife was Beth! How did I not see that one coming?

Eric and Whitney still end up going to that concert. Meaning Megan is the most trusting parent EVER! The end!

Idk about bleak. Out of all the Lifetime movies focusing on the topic of human trafficking, this one is probably on the lower end of the spectrum.
