Synopsis (via Lifetime)

After a tough divorce, Helena enters into a throuple with glamorous couple Iris and Dean for some harmless fun. When Iris is brutally murdered, all eyes are on Helena. She fights to prove her innocence, but is the real killer closer to home than she thinks? Brianna Cohen, Donny Boaz, and Nicole Marie Johnson star (2025).

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Lena is a mother going through a divorce and works in the hotel industry. She leaves her teenage daughter, Madison, home alone for a pitch meeting that turns into a threesome offer with Dean and his wife, Iris. The sexy time is interrupted by Lena’s drunken ex-husband, Paul. He makes a scene and gets kicked out. Lena gets a restraining order and sends Paul to rehab.

At school, Madison is the new kid and doesn’t have many friends, except for a cute kid named Jacob. They spend time together building a video game while Lena is off galavanting as a throuple.

Iris and Lena spend time together, and the sexual tension is fraught. They go for walks, do yoga, and get sushi together. Lena’s friend Kathy is jealous. Things heat up, quite literally, when Dean enters the picture, and they have some steamy hot tub time. The housekeeper watches on from inside the house.

After the hookup, the next morning, Lena wakes up alone in bed and finds Iris dead in the kitchen. She calls 911, and a detective questions Lena about the apparent murder. Dean had to go back to the hotel and wasn’t home at the time of death. Lena sees the housekeeper.

The story goes Viral, and Madison is embarrassed. Jacob helps Madison look into what the online sleuths are saying, and it doesn’t look good. The articles accuse Dean and Lena of having an affair and plotting the murder together to get Iris out of the picture. Madison calls her dad and tells him what is going on, and he tells them not to talk to anyone without a lawyer.

Dean is looking ROUGH. (For one scene only, don’t worry) He is in disbelief that his wife is dead. He apologizes to Lena for getting her involved in this mess, and Lena offers to make him lasagna to make him feel better. (That would work for me, I love lasagna!) Dean wants to keep things going with Lena.

Lena is on edge because the press keeps hounding her, and random men are attacking her outside her house. Lena worries that it is the same man who killed Iris. The detective tells Lena and Madison that they are close to finding a suspect. (The housekeeper.) Lena takes Madison to stay at Dean’s house while he has security cameras installed. Dean also offers to fix the roof of their house, which has a leaky roof.

It seems like Madison and Lena will be staying with Dean for a few weeks. Lena admits that she was dating the couple before Iris died, and Madison takes it pretty well. Madison tells her mom that she is dating Jacob, who is NOT married with a dead wife.

Madison starts to keep an eye on her mother and Dean; she disapproves of the relationship being so close to Iris’ death. She invites Jacob to dinner, and when they talk about video games, Dean belittles their efforts, further insulting Madison. When he offers to pay for Madison’s college tuition, she storms off! (Take the money, gurl!) Madison thinks Dean is turning her mother into a submissive housewife. Jacob says he understands where she is coming from, but asks her to chill till they finish their cheesecake.

In the middle of the night, Madison searches through Iris’ office and discovers a secret compartment containing letters. The handwriting is illegible to me! Dean catches Madison in his office, and she says she is working on an English paper about Hamlet and needs some computer paper. Madison runs away to stay with Kathy.

Jacob and Kathy help go through the letters. Madison wants to prove that Dean is a bad guy. He isn’t the murderer because the housekeeper’s trial ends, and she confesses to murdering Iris because they were going to fire her. Dean shows his true colors when Madison tries to visit her mom, and he won’t let her see her mother.

Madison visits her dad in rehab, and he tells Madison that evidence is everything. He wants her to find proof that Dean is a bad guy. He offers to do a background check with some of his old work buddies. (Dean has a dead wife in his past.) She is more determined than ever to prove that Dean is the worst. Madison returns to the letters and, with Jacob’s help, uses her hacking skills to obtain answers.

Jacob hacks Dean’s security system and breaks into the house. He looks through files and downloads items from Dean’s computer. Dean catches him and beats the crap out of him.

Unaware that Jacob is missing, Madison discovers that the man who attacked her mother was a guy named Aaron who was having an affair with Iris. Madison gets his address and asks Kathy to accompany her to investigate. Dean is pretending to be Aaron to lure Madison to him.

Lena receives a call from Paul, warning her about Dean, and she attempts to contact Jacob to locate Madison. She hears the phone ringing in the house, and it leads her to the sauna, where Jacob is locked up, beaten, and bloody. Jacob tracks Madison’s phone, and Lena rushes to save her daughter.

When Madison arrives, Dean grabs her and ties her up. He dumps gasoline on her. Kathy is tied up in the car, and she kicks the horn to try to get help.

Lena unties Madison, and they run into the woods to get help for Kathy. Jacob calls the police. Dean stops them and holds them at gunpoint. He admits he killed Iris and pinned it on the housekeeper. Madison hits Dean in the head, and they get away.

Six months later, Lena visits Kathy’s grave, I GUESS SHE DIED?!?!? Hahaha. Betty, the housekeeper, shows up and says Dean blackmailed her into confessing.

Madison gets into college, and I guess Dean won’t be paying for her tuition. That’s too bad!
