Synopsis (via Lifetime)

After surviving a violent showdown, a conniving teen breaks out of a hospital, determined to wreak havoc on her father’s new wife and family.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

She’s back and maybe autotuned?

Joanna is back; she is in the hospital directly after the incidents of the first movie. It’s like Halloween 2 with a Tubi budget! When she wakes up from her coma, Joanna is thankful to be alive and sweet as pie. Until she kills a doctor, swaps clothes, and escapes.

Next, we meet Tessa, who is Michael/Chris’s next mark. He saves her from a guy hitting on her at a bar and charms her, calling him one of his high-end clients.

Two weeks later, Joanna is living with her aunt until they can track down her father. Joanna pushes her aunt down the stairs and kills her. Joanna should stop doing that because the police are going to catch on. (This is the third time?) Also, if she is staying with family, why did she kill the nurse and go on the run? Makes no sense.

One Year later, Chris has moved in with Tessa and her son, Trevor. It is just like last time, but this family seems richer TBH.

ONE WEEK LATER! (Haha, enough with the timeline.) Tess throws a fancy party, and Tessa brags about her new man and his skills in the bedroom. Joanna shows up AGAIN with a sad story about her aunt dying and needing a place to stay. (Haha, I laughed at the line: Why is everyone in the family so clumsy?) This time, Chris isn’t playing along, and he tries to get rid of her. Tessa isn’t so welcoming and tells Chris that Joanna has got to go. Chris breaks her down, and Tessa agrees that Joanna can stay in the furthest bedroom away from Trevor.

Trevor is a mama’s boy and obsessed with being on summer break. He helps his mom with her social media and is her social media manager. Joanna offers to help in her free time when she isn’t painting.

Michael/Chris and Joanna are both surprised that the other is alive and still a criminal. Joanna wants to be cut into his con, and he tells her that it isn’t a con, it is TRUE LOVE. He reluctantly agrees and also tells Joanna to leave Trevor alone.

Detectives are looking into the cases of all the unsolved murders. They are doing a terrible job.

Whitney is now an alcoholic and a mess. Her sons take care of her as she begins to fall apart. Brian encourages his mother to get help, and she goes to AA. The detective meets with Whitney and tells her that Michael and Joanna are still wanted. Melissa offers to help. She tells them that Joanna’s REAL name is Maggie Dillion. Melissa and the detective also have a past. (Which is news to me. I think there is a prequel, but I won’t be going back.

Joanna paints, and Trevor watches her. He tells her she is outstanding and offers to use his social media expertise to help promote her art. Her art is not marketable, but at least it is better than Joanna’s cropped shirts. When Trevor tells Joanna about some bullies, she offers to take care of them for her, but he laughs it off because she is just a girl.

Tessa is pregnant and tells Trevor before she tells anyone, but Joanna overhears the conversation and will use it against her later. She tells Michael that if they kill Tessa this time, they won’t inherit anything. Her son and new baby will!

A neighbor sees a news story about Joanna and Michael and recognizes them. He tries to call Tessa and warn her, but who checks voicemail these days?

Chris/Michael makes breakfast with his titties popping off and tells Tessa that he knows she is pregnant. They celebrate as a family, well, everyone but Joanna, who just says “yay!’ The celebration is cut short when Brenden, Tessa’s ex-husband, shows up unexpectedly. He is also Trevor’s biological father. Trevor doesn’t know about his father being alive. (Joanna overhears the conversation, of course.) Tessa explains even further, but Chris/Michael is still flexing his abs, so I missed the backstory.

Brandon says that he found Tessa on social media and wants to be back in his son’s life. He has unresolved feelings for Tessa. Chris/Michael kicks Brandon out when he feels threatened.

Joanna learns about the neighbor trying to warn Tessa about her and her father, so she kills him while he is taking a nap. Then she tells Trevor about Brandon being his father. Brandon wants custody, and it sets Tessa off. She beats Joanna off and kicks her out of the house, and then Brandon and Chris get into it. Brandon conducts a background check, which tips off detectives to Joanna and Michael’s location.

Joanna goes back into the house and knocks Tessa out. She ties Tess and Trevor up and then argues with Michael. It is the same argument about Michael killing Joanna’s mother. There is a shoot-out, and then the police arrive and arrest Joanna. Michael is arrested, but gets out of jail.

He goes to see Whitney, and Joanna is locked in the psych ward. The end! Part three looms.

STRAY Thoughts

They added a voice effect to Joanna to make her less monotone, I SWEAR!

I like this better than the first one, TBH.

  1. I swear this movie (and its prequel) had more twists than a twisted donut. It was hard to keep up with the plot.
