When Kai’s niece, Toy (Sierra Sidwell), a neurodivergent teen, is abducted by an online predator, her world is thrown into chaos. With law enforcement running out of leads, Kai refuses to wait for justice that too often overlooks Black girls. She mobilizes her trucking network and harnesses her social media influence to launch a grassroots rescue mission, proving that when the system fails, the community steps in.
Recap/Wine Thoughts

Garcelle Beauvais plays a trucker named Kai, and I am LIVING FOR IT!
Toy talks with her Auntie, and Kia notices Lotoya has some new fancy jewelry. Kia says to not accept jewelry because it always comes with strings attached. It is solid advice.

Kai and her sister, Madison, run a trucking company, and Kai is about to retire. Madison needs her sister to do one last haul to Dallas and decides to take Toy with her. Madison doesn’t want Toy to go because she is autistic. Kai and Madison argue over what Toy is capable of. Eventually, Madison relents, but says if Kai doesn’t come back without her daughter… don’t bother coming back at all.

The two hit the road, and I didn’t know how much I needed Garcelle Beauvais driving a big rig I needed in my life. She talks on the CB Radio, honks the horn, and has a mean tire club.
At a rest stop, a guy gets handsy with Toy on her way to the shower and goes all Mama Bear, raging out with her tire Club. It is a dark moment in an otherwise nice road trip. Toy tells Kai that she is dating a boy named Eric, and that he is the one sending her gifts. They haven’t even met, though.

Toy sneaks out to get some food, and she is surprised when Eric comes to her table. Their first meeting doesn’t go well, and Toy is uncomfortable. It is clear Eric is stalking her. Eric gets upset that Toy isn’t happy to see him and causes a scene. He chases after her and throws her in his trunk. Toy calls her Auntie and is freaking out. Kai tries to help her niece and tracks her location.
Toy pulls a lever and jumps out of the car. A passerby stops to help, and Eric shoots him dead. The police aren’t helpful and basically blame Latoya for not calling 911. The waitress at the restaurant mentions Eric and Toy’s interaction, and Kai remembers the gifts.

Madison shows up and is angry with her sister for being neglectful. Madison wants to put up missing-person flyers, but Kai wants to do the investigating herself.
Eric busts into a truck stop bathroom and holds Kai at gunpoint. Eric tells Kai to get rid of the police and tells her that he hasn’t done anything wrong. He bought her all those gifts!!!! He cries because things got out of hand. As he explains things, Madison hears her daughter in the truck and breaks the car window, but Eric hears her and shoots at Madison.

They get into a high-speed chase with a big rig, which is pretty dangerous! The truck breaks down, and Eric gets away. Kai calls for help on the CB Radio. The sisters fight and blame one another. In this scene, I realized Marci T. House is an incredible actress. (Truly, submit for supporting actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.)

With nowhere else to turn, Kai goes on social media and tells her story. She asks for the community’s help, and it is her shot in the dark. It works, and the truckers rally together to find Eric and demand to know where Toy is.

Toy frees herself and wanders down the highway until she finds a truck and calls for help on the CB radio. The mother and daughter are reunited. (Oh, and Auntie is there too.)
STRAY Thoughts
The Black Girl Missing Franchise’s mission statement in popular culture kind of got lost in translation and should include an explanation at the top, because, at face value, it raises a few eyebrows.
It is also time for Nurodivergent actors to play Nurodivergent roles. Thanks.
