Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Marie has it all, including an in-depth account of her life from the last 24 years. So, when she goes to a speed dating event in a last-ditch effort to find a man to take home for Christmas, she takes her diary with her, complete with her list of dos and don’ts she’s compiled over the years, just for reference. But in the midst of the event, she puts her diary down and picks up the wrong one. Will the star-crossed diaries and potential soulmates find their way back to each other for Christmas?

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Marie writes in a diary, she is also a grown woman who dresses like a candy cane or Where’s Wanda. Marie has two single siblings, both of whom are dating. The dates they bring to Christmas are normal, unlike Marie, who always brings someone CRAZY to dinner. (Can we see that movie, actually?)

Marie creates an algorithm to avoid past mistakes and goes speed-dating with her diary notes. The host of the speed dating is the SEXIEST MAN! He breaks rule number five, no singing, so he is off the list.

Then she proceeds through the speed dates, and everyone breaks her rules.

We get the rules randomly, but the ones I can remember are:

Rule Number 2- No Cooks

Rule Number 6- No Dates who don’t like hot chocolate

Rule Number 8- No Runners

Marie leaves behind her diary or psycho list of rules and picks up someone else’s diary instead. She tries not to read it but stays up all night connecting with the author; she thinks whoever wrote the diary is her perfect match.

She brings the diary back and leaves a note for the writer. Andrew Busell tells her that she shouldn’t have read the diary and calls her a stalker. Marie tries to recruit him by guilt-tripping him.

Andrew turns out to be a friend of Marie’s mother from a chorus group. He tells her about the rules. She says rules are meant to be broken and wants them to get together.

That doesn’t seem to be likely after Marie realizes that Andrew wrote the diary. How can she trust him after going through the whole looking for the diary writer?

Marie’s mother talks to Andrew and tries to encourage him to make up with Marie. She also tells him he sings like an angel, but we NEVER HEAR HIM SING.

Andrew apologizes to Marie, who is wearing a very sexy, sparkly green dress. His apology is sincere, but it would have been better if he had sung it.

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

Deaf representation was cool.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MARIE’S DIARY

They didn’t even try to hide the Canadian accents in this one.
