Tennis star Luke Hollis heads home for Christmas and discovers his family’s racquet club is about to be sold. Along with Caroline, the club’s pickleball coach, Luke agrees to compete in a holiday tournament that could save the club.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Pro Tennis player, Luke Hollis, has road rage… or whatever rage on the tennis court is called. He is a hothead and quit tennis to move to Florida to get away from it all.
Caroline runs a struggling Tennis Club in Florida and has converted the courts to Pickleball to capitalize on the trend. Will it be enough to save the club by Christmas? Not without some publicity, perhaps from a pro tennis star?
That doesn’t work out because when Luke learns about the pickball conversion, he gets pissed and reems out Caroline. His parents own the club, and he doesn’t like how she is running things. Caroline tries to convince him that Pickleball is cool, but he isn’t impressed. He thinks a Christmas pickleball competition is stupid and won’t lend his name to the cause. (Even if it would be a good fundraiser to save the club.)
Caroline shows him her pickleball moves and then her sexy time moves. This does not feel very Christmasy. I feel like they just slapped Christmas on the title.
Training montage, and I’m surprised it took nearly half the movie to get here. That is some restraint.
At the club holiday party, Caroline and Luke go together, and his parents make an announcement naming Luke the next club owner, should they still be open.
Somehow, Caroline gets the idea that Luke is going to get rid of Pickleball. She is pissed and decides to throw the pickleball tournament, but during a break, Luke tells her that she misunderstood! It’s all good, and they win! Horray.
Luke fakes an injury and proposes to Caroline, ROMANTIC.
