When a graduate criminology student and her true-crime club investigate a four-year-old disappearance in rural Georgia, they uncover a web of small-town grudges, buried secrets, and a sadistic killer hiding in plain sight. But as their amateur sleuthing draws them deeper into danger, they must outwit a predator before becoming his next trophies.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
The movie starts with a working mother, Tricia, and daughter at home in the middle of the night. While eating ice cream, Lexi hears a knock at the door and gets up to see who’s there. The next morning, Lexi is missing, and her mother calls 911.
Four years later, Sienna is a college student in criminology class with a gay named Gregory. They are about to be on spring break, but that doesn’t stop them from meeting their sluthing group. Tyler Lee is a new member, and he is hot. They research the cold case of Lexi Pamer from Parker, GA.
Tyler asks Sienna to join him on a spring break trip to Parker, GA, to solve the case. She can’t go because she has a bachelorette party in Mexico with her boyfriend, Marcus. When Seinna tries to back out of Cancun, Marcus guilt-trips her and freaks out. CHILL MARCUS! (Apparently, he was going to propose, but he isn’t the one. He also wears socks and sandals.)
The trip is officially on, and THANKFULLY Gay Gregory is going too. For some reason, Gay Gregory doesn’t want to share a room with Tyler, and I’m like Gay Gregory…. ARE YOU EVEN GAY?! Gay Gregory bails at the last min, but to a fire in his apartment.
Tyler and Sienna hit the road, and she tells him about her dad’s death in a mass shooting. The incident inspired Sienna to want to join the FBI. Tyler tries to relate and talks about his controlling grandmother.
When they arrive in town, the police aren’t interested in their help. Tricia, on the other hand, is an open book and shares about Lexi’s case. The prime suspect is the sheriff’s daughter, who was dating Lexi’s baby daddy.
Marcus floats in donut floaties in the pool and is still jealous. When he finds out Gay Gregory isn’t on the trip, he tracks him down to get more info on Tyler. Gay Gregory already doesn’t like Tyler’s vibe, and they work together to find out more about the new transfer student. They find a criminal past and learn that Tyler was arrested for burglary. (He also started the fire in Gay Gregory’s apartment.)
Sienna confronts Tyler, and he admits he knew Lexi and recruited her to help him solve the case. Sienna leaves Tyler and checks into a motel. She tries to leave town, but someone put diesel in the tank and wrecked it.
A mumbling guy named Ryan offers to fix her car and ends up kidnapping her. Sienna is living one of the cases she researches and should have known better. Not to victim shame, tho!
Tricia comes to Sienna’s rescue, unlike when she could save Lexi. Ray catches Tricia and locks her up, too. Sienna creates an electromagnet from a lightbulb wire and a battery, like she is MaGrubber.
Marcus comes back from Cancun and tries to alert the police, but the cops don’t care. Marcus and Tyler get into a fight in a parking lot.
Meanwhile, Tricia and Sienna escape and then go into Ray’s house to look for the car keys. Tricia gets sidetracked and murders Ray with a kitchen knife while he sleeps.
Gay Gregory and Sienna talk to the press or maybe a podcast? Sienna is engaged to Marcus, oh no.
STRAY Thought
Marcus sucks, and he should have been the killer.

Appreciate your kind words about the movie — I rated it slightly better, but maybe that’s because I played Tyler hahaha! Thank you so much for watching!
