Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Meredith runs a Lamaze business and hires Eve, who becomes her best friend. When Eve is stalked, Meredith is determined to help. As she investigates, Meredith discovers Eve might be hiding a dark secret.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Meredith is trapped in a coffin, and we are left to wonder how a Lamaze coach ended up here.

A yoga class in a brightly lit studio featuring a wall with the text 'Breathe in the SUNSHINE.' Two instructors demonstrating poses, with students seated on mats observing.

The movie flashes back a few weeks, to when Meredith is coaching a breathing technique she will use later. Meredith leads the class of actors, with pillows over their bellies, before going to her godson’s birthday party. Eve, her godson’s mother, is appreciative of the party, but is acting strange and paranoid.

A messy room with scattered pillows, artificial clouds, and string lights, showing a doorway with a person standing outside.

Tyler and Meredith tried having kids of their own, but lost the baby and aren’t ready to try again. Meredith has other things to worry about, though, because someone breaks into her studio and tears open all the pillows!!! Luckily for Meredith, Tyler is a hot cop who looks into the strange events.

Eve continues to act strangely. Her son gets a black eye in karate class, her house gets the windows smashed, and someone cuts her brakes. Meredith suggests it could be Eve’s ex-boyfriend, Brian, but Eve says if anyone hurt her son, she would kill them.

A man in a karate uniform speaks passionately to a woman, who is partially visible. The setting appears to be inside a dojo or martial arts studio.

Brian, with his hairy chest, gets annoyed with Meredith snooping around his Dojo and tells her she should investigate Eve, who is using a fake name. Tyler looks through police records and finds a death certificate for Eve Mills.

The investigation continues with a stop at the police station, a visit to an old listed address, and they discuss everything over dinner. Tyler asks his wife if she has even talked to Eve and suggests letting the friend come to her when she is ready. (Which is good advice.)

A girl from class calls Meredith in the middle of the night, and Meredith is like, ” Call a doctor!!!” Then she has nightmares about losing her baby. She wakes up to find her dog has been poisoned by dark chocolate. Snickers survives, and Meredith finds candy wrappers and a work boot print outside her window.

A close-up view through wooden slats, revealing a partially obscured face with a subtle smile, set in a dark environment.

Meredith goes BACK to the Dojo and finds Brian unresponsive. She calls the police and asks her husband to conduct a wellness check on Eve. That is, before Meredith is kidnapped and placed under the floorboards of the old abandoned house.

Meredith escapes and frees Eve, who is tied up in the living room. Her ex-husband and baby daddy kidnapped them because he suddenly believes in traditional values. The baby daddy wants to force his ex-wife to raise their son with him. Charming. Creighton catches them and ties them both up outside.

A man in a gray t-shirt stands with a serious expression, looking off to the side in a dimly lit interior.

Eve comes clean about her real name being Gina and going on the run to leave her terrible ex behind. Gina met Meredith at a women’s shelter and began a new life and identity. Break free again, and work together to get Eve’s son out of the house and away from Creighton.

First, they trigger the car alarm and sneak into the house. Then they knock Creighton and tie him up. They demand that he tell them where Lucas is, and Eve stabs him in the leg to show they aren’t playing around.

Tyler uses his police database and locates Creighton’s criminal background. He calls the Chief, who is Creighton’s father, and he has been covering for his son and hiding Lucas. When the Chief tells Tyler to drop it, he enlists the Marines. Literally.

A man in a gray shirt stands with a serious expression while another man in a light-colored shirt points a gun directly at the viewer, both outdoors with trees in the background.

Creighton brings Eve and Meredith to the shed where Lucas is being held. There is a struggle, and the Chief gets the gun. He would do anything to help his son.

Meredith and Eve get the gun back and shoot Creighton. Meredith calls the police and has Creighton practice Lamaze until Tyler shows up. Haha! That is so funny to me.

A group of people celebrating a grand re-opening outside a store, with a large pink banner and balloons. The crowd includes individuals of various ages and backgrounds, with one person holding large scissors as they prepare for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The movie ends three months later, with the studio, Just Breathe, for the grand reopening.

STRAY Thought
