Caitlin tries to adjust to life in an upper-class community after she marries the owner of a horse stable. However, her world soon falls apart when her new husband disappears and she comes under suspicion.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Caitlin, Skye Coyne, is trapped in a horse stable. Oh, no is she a horse girl?
Flashback to Caitlyn and her new husband, Lucas, in the honeymoon phase of their relationship. He has a teen daughter, Ripley, who is grossed out by her new mom and her lack of proper footwear.
Horse Rules
No Open Gates
No Open Flames
No Open Shoes
Caitlin isn’t a horse girl; Lucas is. Lucas and Olympic Horse jumper Greg own Magnolia Hills. BUT WHO CARES ABOUT them because there is a hunk on the ranch named Thomas lifting heavy things. (Somehow, no one notices how hot he is.)
Caitlin has been blackballed by her event agency and is considering starting an event-planning venue at the ranch lounge. Caitlin doesn’t have time to start a business because she is expecting. Lucas doesn’t seem thrilled and tells Caitlin that he needs to talk after he rides a horse, but he never comes back. His horse, Prince, returns riderless and bloody.
A group of riding moms of elite riders roam the ranch like they are on a cowboy version of Mean Girls. They think Lucas is overrated because he hasn’t competed in the Olympics. One mom with pink accessories thinks she catches Caitlin flirting with Thomas. (Caitlin was just faint from the pregnancy and fell into Thomas’ strong arms.)
Caitlin ends up in the hospital, and Thomas brings her flowers. Swoon! I hope he isn’t the bad guy. (Later, he kisses Caitlin, and Ripley catches them and thinks her new stepmom has moved on from her dad.)
Turns out Lucas has a secret cabin, a history of horse abuse, and a lawyer. After Caitlin takes most of the blame for Lucas’s disappearance, and does some snooping, someone in a red coat is harassing Caitlin.
While shoveling hay or whatever you call it, Caitlin finds Lucas’ body and screams in horror.
At the funeral, the blonde Regina George character takes her trash talk way too far and says it is a good thing that Lucas is dead, because now the Olympian can run his horse stable however he wants.
A lawyer shows up, and if THAT is the mid-act twist, murder has never been so legalistic and boring. Greg was blackmailing Lucas for the stables and gambling their earnings away. Caitlin tries to talk with Greg, but she ends up just slapping him with a riding crop, and not in a sexy way.
There is this redhead, who is clearly the killer, but I’m not sure why. I don’t even know who she is to everyone in this story. Her name is Julie or Jolee, apparently, and she just started acting shady out of nowhere. Talking in vague platitudes.
We are back to Caitlin being locked in the stable by someone in a red coat. Thomas saves her, and Caitlin is ungrateful. Like, Caitlin, use your eyes. Date this hunk.
Caitlin starts reviewing some security footage, but she is interrupted by Greg, who has been stabbed in the back with a corkscrew. Put a cork in that! The detectives are WAYYYY off and think Lucas’ daughter killed Greg.
It turns out to be Jolee who was having an affair with Lucas. Ripley tries to stop her, like the most badass tween ever. Jolee was jealous of Caitlin and went on a wild killing spree, and plans to set Ripley and Caitlin on fire in the barn. When her plan goes according to… plan. Jolee dumps gasoline all over herself and tries to set herself on fire.
Ripley saves the day, NOT Thomas. (I loved that.)
Caitlin has the baby and adopts Ripley. They also run the stable! The end.
STRAY Thought
The title pun was the most amusing part of this movie. Good job title gods!

That redheaded woman acts better as the villainess than the protagonist
VERY true!
Unfortunately, the setting being in a stable should’ve tipped me off that this wasn’t one of the good ones. Stable settings are more Hallmark. Her naivety regarding Thomas and his closeness with her was odd and I suspected him at the beginning. Also, what part of bedrest, does she not understand. She was all over creation and shucking hay! And the foot getting caught in ropes scene with sharp objects for some odd reason just hanging in midair…rolling eyes. And just because one woman is nice to you, doesn’t mean you have to divulge all your business to them. ” and she just started acting shady out of nowhere. Talking in vague platitudes.” THIS
