A woman traveling in Spain witnesses her daughter being attacked during a video call. With her daughter missing and no trace of the assault, she’ll stop at nothing to uncover the truth and save her.
Recap/Wine Thoughts

Zara is home alone while her mother enjoys an exotic vacation. There is a crash, and Zara goes to investigate, and Zara is kidnapped while on FaceTime with her mother.

Betty, the mother, rushes home and calls her ex-husband, Sebastian, to meet the police on-site. The police investigate and find nothing. Since Zara has gone missing before, and there is no sign of a struggle, they decide to wait and see if she shows up. The house is immaculate, and that is a problem for Betty because when she was on FaceTime with Zara, the kitchen was a mess.
Betty calls the local hospital and goes to the nosy neighbor to look at their camera footage. She also visits the local forest shop where Zara works and finds it a mess, with threatening notes in the workroom. Zara traded shifts with a co-worker the night she went missing.

Keira, Zara’s blonde friend, tells Betty that Zara was dating an older man named Charles. He has also gone missing. Keira sucks and is really withholding information until she has a change of heart and gives Betty a stack of letters. The intel sharing gets Keira killed. RIP. No one liked you anyway. The killer sets up a meeting with Betty in the park, pretending to be Keria.

Charles has a criminal past and is hot in his mugshot. I just thought that should be mentioned. If Zara has run off with him, I totally get it. He lives in a place called Fishtown with his brother, Patrick. They have a strained relationship.
The killer threatens Betty at the park meeting with a gun and tells her not to contact the police, or she will end up like Keria. Betty gets Sebastian to go to the police station for her.

A hiker finds Zara locked in a shed and rescues her. Zara is brought into the hospital as Jane Doe and doesn’t remember what happened to her. Things come back in bits and pieces due to PTSD shock.
Meanwhile, the killer corners the nosey neighbor, and she defends herself with a pot of soup. Which is kind of iconic, but also wasteful. Speaking of Iconic, Betty dons a wig from the Lifetime wig department and goes undercover AND off the grid.

Betty goes to a rough bar and orders shots and takes a selfie to get a photo of the killer at another table. (I loved the shot over the shoulder trick and have pulled that one, MANY times.)
Patrick talks to Sebastian about Zara and Charles dating. Charles is taking Zara’s disappearance personally. The movie dissolves into police talking to one another, nurses helping Zara, and Betty looking for her daughter, ending up in dangerous situations. Like witnessing the brother Patrick kill the presumed killer and kidnapping her. Poor Betty.

Zara is just pretending not to know who she is because Patrick is posing as a police officer and trying to kill her. Patrick shoots at Zara and hits his brother instead. The police pull up and arrest the brother, and Charles makes it out of surgery. He is going to be fine!
Zara ends with a voice-over that ties up the loose ends.
STRAY Thought
Movies like this don’t really work when you don’t have time to spend with the characters before the kidnapping.

This was one of the better Pierre David and Tom Berry movies as of recently
I like Patrice Goodman! I would love to see her pay the villain.
I was messing with my phone at times during the movie. Did I miss how Patrick found out Zara was in the hospital? Lol
I think he just threw on a cop uniform and went for it!
