Synopsis (via Lifetime)
Concerned her impressionable brother has joined an isolated polyamorous family, Natalie investigates her new ‘in-laws’. The strange death of one of Marcus’s fellow ‘brother husbands’ leads Natalie to realize her brother is living with a killer.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
A woman wakes up in a well and screams for help. Is she the woman with three husbands? I guess we will find out!
Five days earlier, we see the well woman, Natalie, bike riding. She is home to let her brother Marcus know that their dad MIGHT have died last Tuesday. Marcus doesn’t care about his father and doesn’t want to know. Marcus and Natalie aren’t close either, but she keeps a picture of them when they were kids, so that is something, I guess!
Larissa, Marcus’s wife, interrupts the reunion and is kind of strange. She convinced Marcus to move from the city and live on a 10,000-acre farm… with his two other husbands. There is a hot bearded one, Jack, and a hot young one, Nico. Natalie might ride a motorcycle, but she isn’t into polyamory or her brother having husbands. Larissa doesn’t see what the big deal is; she loves them all!
Natalie decides to stay for a few days to keep an eye on Marcus and his husbands/wife. Jack seems particularly wary of Natalie. They go out to the bar and get dirty looks from the locals. Natalie and Larissa are drinking dirty martinis, which you shouldn’t order in a small-town bar. They go back to the farm and take turns slow dancing with Larissa.
In the middle of the night, Natalie hears Jack and Nico fighting. Jack tells Natalie to go home and leave Marcus alone, or she will regret it. Jack’s body is found the next morning in the woods. NO ONE SEEMS UPSET! Nico explains that they are brother-husbands, as if that would make the detective understand what he is talking about.
Natalie is quick to accuse Nico while he is sexily feeding chickens or something. He denies having any beef with Jack. So, Natalie goes back to the bar and talks to the locals. The only problem is they don’t seem so chatty since Natalie is Marcus’ sister.
Since they are down one farm hand, Natalie is put to work. Nico locks Natalie in with a horse, and you think it was a rattlesnake the way she reacts. Natalie does some online research and learns that Nico is a convicted criminal.
So it makes it SUPER sus when Nico drives Natalie out in the middle of nowhere and points a rifle at her. He is still sexy. Natalie tells him she knows he won’t shoot, and he doesn’t. What is he trying to intimidate her? Isn’t his dreamy eyes enough?!
Ken, the guy from the bar, is the next to go, and Natalie accuses Nicol of pretending to be a “kind brother husband,” but really implying he is a killer. The next thing she knows, she is knocked out and thrown into the bottom of a well. Natalie tries to use objects around her to climb out, and uses a swinging porch chain that could barely hold a kid, let alone a full-grown biker woman.
Natalie manages to rescue herself, and honestly, good for her! Natalie makes a scene and blames Nico for everything! She tries to warn Marcus and Larissa, but they won’t turn on their brother-husband. (So, when are Marcus and Nico going to kiss?)
Nico slips up and says Marcus’ dad fell down the stairs. Nico attacks Marcus and tells him he has been jealous the whole time. Larissa knew this was all going down and did nothing to stop it. They killed Marcus’ dad because Larissa targets men who are down and out with no loved ones. Marcus is ruining the status quo.
Larissa gives Marcus horse tranquilizers and tells him that Jack found out about the murder and was going to tell Natalie before Nico took care of it. Larissa keeps Marcus tied up and gagged. She doesn’t want to have to hurt him, but WILL keep him sedated until his sister clears out of town.
Natalie isn’t going ANYWHERE! She goes to the police and asks them to investigate, but they don’t find her brother anywhere. Natalie talks to Sam from the bar, who survived his attack. Larissa hurt his friend Brad and was an OG Brother Husband. Brad died, leaving everything to Larissa. The timing was too convenient.
Natalie sneaks into the house in the middle of the night and doesn’t find her brother; she ends up discovering that Nico sleeps with his shirt on. Unfortunately.
Natalie stakes out the house and follows Nico to the garage, where he is hiding Marcus. Natake takes Nico out and tries to get him to safety. They make it all the way to the car, and just when you think they have made it safely away, Larissa shows up with a rifle and shoots at them, hitting her husband’s brother.
Larissa and Natalie wrestle over the rifle, and Natalie overpowers her sister-in-law. Larissa tries to get Natalie to shoot her, but the police arrive and arrest Larissa first.
Six months later, Natalie is dating, and Marcus isn’t quite ready to put himself out there. Which is TOTALLY valid!
STRAY Thought
‘Brother husbands’ is NOT a thing.
The husband dying and no one caring was WILD.
This movie wasn’t good, but the guys were hot and “Brother Husbands” was so funny.
