Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Forensic accountant Monica Bolland tracks down white-collar criminals, but when her husband Josh, an undercover agent for the FBI, is killed, she goes undercover herself to find his murderer. She gets a bookkeeping job with a criminal cartel but her cover is blown just as she discovers the devastating truth about her husband and the forces that brought him down.

Thoughts

Monica highlights paper (Or is an auditor) during the day and meets up with men in hotels for sexy time at night. You can tell when she which by her hair and glasses situation.

The man she meets in secret is her husband Josh, who is working undercover. He promises that it will all be over soon, and he will no longer be an undercover detective. Josh gives Monica a flash drive before leaving the sleazy motel. He is killed promptly after leaving. (His cover was blown.)

The following day, Monica awakens to the doorbell. It is the police telling her that her husband has been killed in the line of duty. She has a breakdown and then attends to his grave in some killer black boots. Monica looks at old photos and is generally sad. She gives his co-worker Issac and Teressa the flash drive. (But she makes a copy on her laptop.)

Agent Dueck with the FBI asks questions about John. He suspects Monica of being a mole. Josh had half a million dollars in cash on him when he died. Someone also breaks into her home, and Monica is on edge. She tells her mother about everything, but her mother is battling cancer and isn’t up to dealing with all the drama.

The agent finds a ticket and offshore account in Monica’s name. She looks guilty AF. Monica tells him that she is being framed. Issac tells Monica that she needs to go undercover until he can figure out who the spy is. Monica takes cash and packs some clothes and a gun. She is now THE UNDERCOVER WIFE.

Six months later, Issac is still covering for Monica and keeping Agent Dueck off her trail. Monica, now a redhead, is working at a bar with a woman named Gema. She gets the job by making a margarita. Unfortunately, the bar is owned by Colin, the guy who killed Josh. Issac tracks her down and wants her to get intel while she is working for him as a bookkeeper. He blackmails the current bookie, and Monica is in!

That interview goes a little differently because Aiden strips off Monica’s shirt to look for a wire. Monica makes up a good cover story and plays it cool. Aiden decides to take her on and tells her that she is starting from scratch because the previous account wiped the books clean. Then Collin shows up to welcome Monica and kind of threaten her too.

Monica learns from Gemma that Josh has a girlfriend, and it was her. Monica is upset and starts to form feelings for Aiden. She saves him from a robbery in progress with her gun and then patches him up while they drink whiskey. The sexual tension is sparking!

Issac pushes Monica to bug Colin’s phone and get more information. Finally, she is rewarded for scaring off the robbers and successfully bugs Colin’s phone. The celebration doesn’t last long because Monica and Aiden are kidnapped as retribution. The robbers demand payments from Colin every month in exchange for their freedom. The danger is an aphrodisiac because Monica and Aiden get it on.

While Aiden sleeps, Monica looks through his files. He catches her and begins to suspect something is up. Colin learns that someone hacked his phone and thinks that Monica could have done it. He asks Aiden to look into her background more closely.

Colin takes matters into his own hands and takes Monica on a drive. She plays it cool, somehow, and goes into an abandoned warehouse with him. He lets his suspicions be known, and they are confirmed by a security camera from an FBI informant. Adien promises to handle the problem.

Monica comes clean to Adien. He is heartbroken because he thinks she was just using him. She begs him to give her a chance, but he can’t even look at her.

Teressa extracts Monica from her undercover position. She takes her to a safe house and on the way, shares that Issac was the mole all along. They are chased by a car, and Teressa drives wildly.

At the safe house, Colin waits to kill Monica. Teressa is the mole. The FBI burst in and save Monica. Before she goes home Monica makes one last stop at Gemma’s home to apologize for lying.

Gemma says she has evidence at the bar and takes Monicca to retrieve it. Monica looks at the photo and sees that SHE killed Josh. Gemma tries to shoot Monica, but she removed all the bullets from the gun. Monica found Josh’s watch at Gemma’s house.

The women get into a brawl that includes pool cues, smashing glasses, and broken bottles. Adien shows up and shoots Gemma. Monica and Adien make a run for it to a different life.

Side Note

Minority Report: Linda, Boardmembers, Teressa, “thugs,” which is ridiculous that these men are credited this way.
