A Christmas Arrangement
Synopsis (via Lifetime)
Flower shop owner Poppy (Nicky Whelan), enters the annual holiday floral show for a chance to win the grand prize but standing in her way of victory is Garrett (Miles Fisher), the underappreciated protégé of florist extraordinaire, Blair (Daphne Zuniga). While Poppy and Garrett’s rivalry heats up on the flower show floor, an undeniable romance begins amidst a whimsical holiday backdrop.
Saccharin sweet, Polly is a life size Barbie doll. Who meets a handsome stranger named Garrett at a salvation army Santa stand. Poppy works her grandma’s flower shop, Polly’s Petals. It is floundering since Poppy took over running the shop.(She gives away the flowers for free……) They are losing all their business to Covington Designs. Which happens to be company Garrett works for. Maybe, not for long he gives his boss (Blair) an ultimatum. Either she lets him design the holiday flower competition in her name in exchange for a promotion or he walks.
Poppy enters a holiday flower competition to win $5000, too bad Blair wins every year and she doesn’t have much of a shot at winning.
Round one: Poppy, Garrett, and another flower shop make it to the next round of competition. Seems like having real flowers isn’t a prerequisite for winning the competition…
Semi Final Round will be 12 Days of Christmas. Garret tells Poppy that he has to win the competition and she says that she does too. They are obviously falling for each other, since they are uncomfortably attractive. It makes sense.
Round two: Poppy, Garrett and another flower shop make it to the next round. Poppy and Garrett agree to go on a dinner date if they make it to finals. Garrett also refers business from a friend to Poppy to help her pay for things when she loses the competition.
On their date they go to dinner, argue who is going to pay, and envision life after the flower competition. We also get a glimpse into the limited back story. Garrett started off as Blair’s assistant and got the job because his mom is a family friend, he went to grad school for architecture and aspires for more. Poppy has inherited her flower arrangement gifts from her dead Mom and Grandma. Cue the romantic arranging montage.
Once Blair catches wind of Poppy and Garrett’s date, she is shocked! She tells Garrett that he has lost focused and should not be fraternizing with someone who is distracting him from winning. She has his best interest at heart, so she says. Blair tells Poppy that Garrett has feeling for his friend who he recommended to Poppy as a client. Poppy is upset and believes Blair. Things gets even worse when the clients grandma is allergic to eucalyptus. She confronts Garrett and then storms off. Garrett tells Blair to back off and let him do this own thing.
Garrett come clean and apologizes to Poppy. She accepts his apology, even though he is the competition. He helps her load into the competition and almost gets disqualified. Blair is pissed!
The final round: Poppy wins!
Blair make a quick turn around and tells Garrett that he is great. She fires him so he can find his way on his own. She also congratulates Poppy and tells her not to tell anyone. Poppy and Garrett kiss under the mistletoe as it starts to snow.
At least Nicky Whelan had short hair in a Hallmark movie (Romance at Reindeer Lodge), here she was run of the mill pretty actress.
