Synopsis (via Lifetime)

A woman’s feelings start to change when she reluctantly spends Christmas with the man responsible for ending her last relationship.

Thoughts

Hayley is up for a big promotion (at a circus? Maybe.) but leaves the city to drive home to Vermont to stay with her adopted sister, Amy, and her husband, Tim. Tim’s brother, Paul, will also be staying the night. Paul and Hayley have a hate/hate relationship and are RUDE to one another. At her sister’s wedding, Paul commented on Hayley’s relationship and caused them to break up. Now it looks like she and Paul will be stuck together for the holidays and be forced to do Christmas activities together.

When Tim and Paul’s mother comes down with a cold, hopefully, it isn’t COVID; she pawns her Christmas to-do list off on her family. The only problem is that Amy is pregnant and can’t help, leaving Hayley and Paul to complete the to-do list. They go ice staking, pick out a Christmas tree, and Paul volunteers Hayley to plan the town Christmas even. (You know, because she runs a circus.) Hayley snacks the whole time on granola and nuts. Paul has had enough of her snacks, and they eat ribs! It appears they are starting to get along.

Hayley goes into party planning mode, and everyone is impressed. Ticket sales for the event are higher than ever. She considers staying in town and starting her event planning business, but she gets the circus’ promotion and is conflicted.

Oh wow, I’m not writing a lot about his movie. It is pretty uneventful, if I am honest. Not good, not bad, just meeeh.

The two almost kiss by a fire and then watching the sunrise. Then Hayley gifts paul a pair of cufflinks as a secret Santa gift.

The big gala happens. Hayley and Paul get dolled up and are starting to seem like a real couple. At the party, Paul’s ex-girlfriend rudely interjects herself and warns Hayley not to get involved with Paul because he travels too much and is self-centered. (I mean, he is Chad Michael Murray, of course, he is!) Hayley freaks out on Paul and doesn’t want to invest in a relationship with him. Paul asks her why she is sabotaging a good thing? He is leaving for a weekend ski trip. Why is she getting so upset?

Paul leaves but comes back after looking at the cufflinks in the car. Hayley finds a present under the tree and opens it while the rest of the family is enjoying a one-horse open sleigh. The gift is a replica of a terrifying clock that has been annoying her all movie. ROMANCE!  Paul shows up. They Kiss. The end.
