Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Dumped before Christmas, famous Hollywood actress Olivia secretly returns to her hometown to eat cookies and avoid the press. Instead, she has to step up to take the starring role in her own life, realizing that home is where the heart is.

Thoughts

Olivia O’Hara is a Hollywood actress in hiding. She has a BIG superhero movie coming out and is lying low due to a messy breakup. (Over TEXT!) Olivia takes a flight to her hometown for the holidays. Her mother and kid sister are thrilled to see her. They immediately get to baking and send Olivia to the store to get condensed milk. No star treatment here. She runs into an old classmate named Casey, who recognizes her but is cool about it. They talk through a grocery store shelf for the whole conversation, which is funny.

Olivia’s car won’t start, and she gets a ride from Casey. Paparazzi snap them, getting into the car together. Casey works at the high school and is pretty hot for a teacher. Olivia heads to the school to revisit her glory days where she was the stay in Romeo and Juliet. She actually goes into Casey’s class and recites Shakespeare. Casey lets Olivia know that the play has been canceled for the first time in school history because the drama teacher quit. Olivia volunteers as tribute.

Olivia introduces herself to the kids and gets the play blocking. Her dad has a tribute in the school because he was so influential and has a scholarship in his name. Olivia wins over all the students except for a kid named Jack, who is surly AF. Olivia bond with him over his dead dad and his love of music. (She makes him the MD for the show.) Now she has won everyone over! She is an A-list Hollywood actress, after all.

Casey takes Olivia out on a date. Oh no, he takes her to his house and has fixed her an entire Christmas dinner early. Turkey, sweet potatoes, and North Pole Pie. If she wasn’t in love with him before, she is now.

Ryan Wrangler, a country singer/ex-boyfriend, shows up in town and tries to win Olivia back. He goes for a kiss and hires a paparazzi to take pictures. The next day a reconciliation story hits the tabloids, causing a rift between Casey and Olivia. Olivia calls Ryan and tells him that she doesn’t care if they are trending on Twitter; she wants to live her life and never get back together with him.

Olivia tries to clear things up with Casey while wearing a Santa hat, and it surprisingly doesn’t go over well. The Christmas play is about to start, so we’ll have to get that out of the way first. The play goes on without a dress rehearsal and last min costumes. Everyone seems pleased, so that is good!

Casey and Olivia share a kiss and then SAY GOODBYE?!?! What? Her public image is rehabbed, and she can go back to living her Hollywood lide. That is until Casey shows up on her doorstep, telling her that he loves her. She loves him too, and they kiss! He is her happy ending. The end! Sure! Whatever!
