Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Fashion photographer Gaby Jones (Ali) is eager to make a name for herself and finally gets her chance when she lands a coveted job at a magazine. Encouraged by an editor (Meyer) to attend the annual Christmas photography retreat in the small town of Pine Falls to ramp up her skills, Gaby reluctantly signs up despite not being a huge fan of the holidays. When she arrives, she learns her rental has been double-booked with wildlife photographer Sean (Henderson Wade) but soon discovers there’s more to a photo than what you see through the lens. As the two fall for each other, their life choices start to get in the way and the two must decide if they’re willing to take a risk in order to share a picture-perfect holiday together. (2021)

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Gaby is a freelance fashion photographer who shoots clothing spreads that feature shirtless hunks. Gabby asks the magazine editor to hire her full-time, and Leila says no because her photos aren’t emotional enough. Gaby wants to prove her wrong and decides to go to a Photography Christmas Bootcamp.

After a quick flight, Gaby rolls into her cabin with a ton of luggage. She is surprised to find a hunk in a towel named Sean. He also booked the cabin and is there for the photography retreat. Sean shoots wildlife. The cabin owners apologize for the mix-up and ask them to stay for one night while they figure out an alternative. They also offer them a discount and buy them groceries, which is nice!

Gaby and Sean have typical arguments over film or digital photography, Christmas decorations, among other things and everything. (Including pizza toppings, dish towel manners, and Christmas music.)

At the retreat, Gaby runs into an old college friend Dani and her girlfriend, Amelia. They all sit together and are grouped for the retreat for daily assignments. Their first assignment is “Christmas in Nature.” They hike around, and Dani tells Gaby that she plans to propose to Amelia on the retreat. Amelia is also planning to propose and shares her secret with Sean. Sean and Gaby think it is sweet that they both want to propose to one another on the same trip.

Sean and Gaby flip a coin every night to see who sleeps in the bed. When Sean finally wins the bed, he trades it with Gaby in exchange for her shooting on film for a day. Sean wants to help Gaby to find her love of photography again. They waste film on a baby goat in a barn. Then they develop the photos in the makeshift darkroom, and the sparks start flying.

The two get snowed into the cabin, and they make the best of the situation. They have a snowball fight, romantic strolls through Christmas lights, and heart-to-heart conversations. They almost kiss but are interpreted by a call from Lalia, who invites her to a fancy Christmas party. She tells Gaby to get back ASAP.

To take her mind off things she can’t control, Sean cooks Christmas confections for her, including Reindeer food. They also decide to stage the perfect proposal spot for Dani and Amelia. All the romance rubs off on them, and they kiss.

Gaby manages to get a flight back to the city and will miss the photo gallery showing. Before she leaves, Sean tells her that he is having the best time with her and he doesn’t want to see her go. He tells her that she is a great photographer and to “go get that job.” (Which I liked!)

At the gallery show, Sean has a picture of Gaby, and the teacher tells him that he captured love in a photo. Gaby rushes in and asks Sean to join her on their proposal bridge. She tells him that she wants to not just pursue fashion photography; she wants to pursue life with Sean.
