Synopsis (via Hallmark)

A small toy company CEO gets a once in a lifetime offer to merge with a mega toy company but will need her estranged ex-business partner’s signature to seal the deal. What he helps her rediscover will change both of their lives

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Little Christmas and Joe start a toy booth in their neighborhood. Christmas says she is destined to run her own toy store.

22 years later, she is right; Christmas works non-stop and is very successful. (Like on the cover of magazines.) A Santa tells Christmas to slow down and enjoy the season. The CEO of a rival toy company meets with Christmas and wants her to be her successor when she retires. Merging the two toy companies. Christmas needs to get Joe to sign off on the merger, so she can be CHRISTMAS CEO!!

Joe is hot and a toy designer. He loves Santa and strolls around aimlessly. He is the co-founder of Christmas’s toy company, and they ended on bad terms. Christmas tries to get Joe’s signature, but he refuses. Then (in the same scene), he does a 180 agrees on one condition, she helps with his Christmas Jamboree charity event.

Christmas’s sister Heather asks her to watch her daughter Emma for the night. Christmas is not used to entertaining kids, and Emma is unimpressed with Christmas’s holiday decor. Emma is a songwriter who does covers and pop music.

Christmas meets Joe at a planning meeting and brings an old sugar plum fairy windup doll. She asks him to fix it, and he hums while inspecting the toy fondly.

Later, Joe helps Emma and Christmas pick out a Christmas tree and decorate it as well. Seeing Emma interact with Joe makes Christmas think of Joe as a father. She wonders what could have been if they hadn’t gotten into an argument and stopped talking to one another six years ago.

Joe apologizes to Christmas and then shames her for not having as much fun as she used to. (Because she doesn’t like ice skating.) He invites her and Emma to rollerskate. Then he proceeds to obnoxiously sing Jingle Bells until he trips and Christmas falls on top of him for the “almost kiss, but no” kiss.

Cue a montage of Joe and Christmas playing with toys and falling back in love. Joe shows her some seriously deranged toys they made when they were in high school. (Including a weird cabbage patch doll.) They are inspired to reteam and design toys for fun, not just for business.

Santa turns off Christmas’s phone and tells her to relax. Christmas glosses over that the man thinks he is Santa and enjoys a night playing a reindeer riding game with Joe. The next day when she turns on her phone, Christmas sees she is late for a CEO meeting for the board to solidify the merger.

It is the night of the toy drive, jamboree! Emma sings her song, and it is pretty. Christmas dances with Joe, but the spell is broken when she finds out that she got the CEO job and the board approved the merger. Christmas isn’t as excited as she thought she would be. She tells Joe, and he has something to tell her as well. He is in love with her. (Well, not if she wants to be CEO, the dude is a jerk.)

Santa is back, and he helps Christmas realize that being a CEO might not spark joy as much as she thought.

Joe drops off the ballerina that he fixed for Christmas. He thinks she has signed the merger documents and is disappointed.

On a snow night, Christmas shows up unannounced at Joe’s toy store. She didn’t go through with the merger and wants to start over with Joe. They are going to build a new company with meaningful toys. She also tells him that she is in love with him. They kiss.

One year later, the new business is doing well and is WAY more fun. They have the number THREE toy of the holiday. Horray?
