Known as a “fixer” for difficult clients, a talented party planner must help a young CEO plan the Christmas party of the year to dazzle the mayor and save his company. Wil the “fixer” fix something more than just the company? (2021)
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Kelly is home for the holidays, and it isn’t like she remembered; she is surprised to see that her mom, pregnant sister, Grace, and Grace’s husband Chris have all moved in together. It is the first Christmas since Kelly’s father died. The family inn is almost vacant. Kelly is practical and wants to solve the problem; her sister says, don’t worry about it. Christmas Magic will fix it. Then the sister asks Kelly to build a snowman. I think she needs more iron.
While the sisters build a snowman, Kelly talks about the perfect man and how terrible dating is. “Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just build the perfect man, like this snowman? Hahaha!” Then Kelly puts her dad’s hat and scarf on the snowman and a dusting of magic. The sisters laugh and go inside to warm up.
A contractor randomly fixes the Inn when the final guest leaves because their room has no heat. His name is Forest, and he wears a hat and scarf very similar to the snowman. Forest is from Alaska, and he thinks Dad jokes are hilarious. Kelly shows him around the Inn and shares her list of repairs. (She is a lawyer, so she loves lists.)
The sisters connect the snowman and Forest pretty quickly and accept the fact that he is a snowman thanks to CHRISTMAS MAGIC.
Forest is a beast at repairs fueled by baked goods and hot chocolate. He walks around the woods and listens to Kelly’s childhood memories when he isn’t fixing things. When it is Forest’s turn to talk about his childhood, he wasn’t close to his father and wants to have a family of his own to be a better snowman, I mean father!
Kelly invites Forest to dinner, but he doesn’t make it and takes a mysterious meeting instead. The following day the family gets a call from an anonymous buyer wanting to buy the Inn and surrounding land. Grace thinks Kelly is behind the sale offer and is LIVID. Kelly’s mom considers the sale and asks her daughter to review the offer.
Kelly finds a contingency in the sale and realizes that Forest is the buyer. He used Kelly to get knowledge of what was wrong with the Inn. Kelly tells Grace Christmas Magic isn’t real. He isn’t a snowman AFTERALL!
Kelly tells Forest to stay away from her and her family. They will not be accepting the sale. Forest tries to explain himself, but Kelly isn’t hearing it. He was trying to get to know the Inn, but it was his father who wanted to demolish it. He apologizes. Then he puts in a call to see if the Inn can be a historical landmark. Then he goes M.I.A.
Kelly loses the hat and scarf of her father and searches all over town for them. She finds them in a store on a snowman display. Kelly and Grace build another snowman in hopes Forest will return.
The inn/lodge is lit up for Christmas. It brings Forest back, who was running away from his problems. The Inn is ruled a historical landmark. Kelly and Forest apologize to one another and decide to stay in town together. The kiss and everyone cheers.
Side Note
Written and directed by T.V. Movie star Robin Dunne.
If he had actually been a snowman, I would have poured it up.
