Recap/Wine Thoughts

Grace is late for her own surprise party. Her sister, Lisa, is very annoyed and has Grace’s husband, Paul, call to check on her. Grace gets into a horrible car accident and is in the hospital for three months in a coma. (Someone steals her necklace while she lays unconscious).

With her mother and husband by her bedside, Grace wakes up. She jokes about not remembering her husband, but when her teenage daughter, Taylor, comes in, Grace realizes that she has lost five years of memories.

When Grace comes home, she is surprised at how well off they are. Paul explains that his book about relationship advice has taken off, and Grace is a chef with “celebrity clients.” Grace is also happily surprised to hear her sister Lisa has been staying in her home to help out.

While enjoying dinner with her family, Grace gets a call from a private number, and a man on the other line tells her he wants to kiss her. Then, Grace receives a text telling her she looks hot. The message unnerves her, and Grace asks her sister to spend the night.

Grace and Paul do interviews about the accident and her recovery. Grace can’t shake the feeling that someone is following her, which is confirmed when she finds spray paint on her car reading, “I KNOW WHAT YOU DID.” The late-night text messages also continue.

A stranger comes into their bedroom in the middle of the night and whispers in Grace’s ear. Paul fights off the attacker. He is the same person who has been sending the privately listed number. His name is Kyle, and he left his wife for Grace. Kyle stops by Grace’s restaurant and tells her that he loves her and stops ignoring him. He tells her to check to Zen app and finds shirtless pictures of Kyle and messages confirming the relationship.

Paul throws Grace a party, and Kyle kisses her hoping to jog her memory. It doesn’t work, and she tells him to leave her own. Grace asks her best friend, Yvonne, if any deep dark secrets have come up lately. She should have asked Lisa because her sister knows about Kyle and the affair. Lisa sees Kyle and Grace together at the party and tells her sister to come clean to Paul or else!

Grace has lunch with Kyle, who gives her back her necklace and tells Grace about how they met and their connection. Kyle tells Grace that she is the love of her life. He is very handsy, and someone takes pictures of them from afar. A stranger named Stacy sees Kyle kissing Grace and says she wishes she could have a relationship like theirs.

Lisa helps Grace track down Kyle’s house, where Grace talks to his neighbor, who says she visited the house at least two times a week.

While out for a walk with Paul, Grace runs into Stacy again. Stacy is angry because she realizes that Grace is a cheater, and Stacy’s husband has recently been through a divorce. Later, Grace comes home to the words “Cheater” written on the mirror.

The photos of Kyle and Grace are mailed to Paul, and he confronts his wife about her affair. Grace apologizes and tries to explain things but cannot. Then they both fill their daughter Taylor into what is going on. (Which is the weirdest family meeting.)

Grace ends up in some random place looking for her daughter and finds an angry Stacy who admits to sending the photo in an act of revenge. Grace fights off the overly aggressive woman, bashing Stacy’s head with a rock.

The police are called, and it turns out the woman’s name isn’t Stacy after all; she is Tina and owns the house. Stacy presses charges against Grace for breaking and entering. Lisa shows up to support her sister but also seems extremely judgemental.

Paul and Taylor move out for their safety. Paul tells Grace to stop talking to the police and let him handle things because she has taken everything way too far.

Grace doesn’t do that and looks into Tina Lewis, finding a tattoo parlor she used to work at. A tattoo artist there informs Grace that Kyle isn’t Tina/Stacy’s ex-husband; he is her brother. Before Tina can talk, she is attacked and knocked unconscious.

Grace has a mental breakdown and tears pictures off a wall Taylor made to help her get her memory back. (It is very dramatic, and I loved it.) She reviews a birthday video for her mother’s 70th birthday and sees Kyle was at the party… with LISA.

Grace tells Paul what she found and shows him the video evidence and the paper trail leading back to Lisa. Lisa wants the husband, and who wouldn’t, he is hot AF. They kiss, and as they do, Lisa knocks Grace in the back of the head with a pipe. Paul screams at Lisa.

When Grace regains consciousness, she sees Paul and Lisa arguing and tells her sister that she is obsessed with her. Only, Lisa isn’t. She has been having an affair with Paul the whole time. They worked together to cover up their deadly infidelities and save Paul’s reputation as a relationship guru.

Grace knees Paul in the balls and threatens to tell the press about the affair. Lisa pulls a gun on her sister, Paul tries to stop her, but she is not going down for this. Grace knocks the gun out of Lisa’s hands, and the detective arrives to arrest her.

Paul paid Kyle and Tina $100,000 to help commit the cover-up. What a POS!

The movie ends with Grace meeting a new man and starting over.
