When one of the cheerleaders suffers a mysterious accident, Coach Allison will stop at nothing to cover it up, even if it means sacrificing her own cheerleaders. Katherine Marsh, Camille Calvin, Shannon Skiles star. (2021)
Recap/Wine Thoughts
A cheerleader named Vanessa runs through a vineyard and is maybe murdered or kidnapped; IDK!
Julie and her mother, Brianna, move to town for a new job opportunity. Brianna will be the new assistant principal, and Julie will be Vanessa’s replacement on the cheer squad. As the mother and daughter unpack, someone watches them from the window.
Lexi and Ricky welcome Julie to auditions, where Lexi does an incredible tumbling pass and makes the squad on the spot. Coach Allison is thrilled to have a new talent, but a girl on the team named Kelly is unimpressed. The team members call themselves the “Wold Pack.”
Vanessa lived in Julie’s house and took the cheer squad to win state. Kelly dropped Vanessa but still got Capitan over Vanessa because the girl went missing. Ricky and Lexi drive Julie to the farm, where Vanessa disappeared.
Coach Allison works on a cheer routine and has a mental breakdown while superintendent Varga’s voice plays in her head. She puts Julie on a meal plan with food delivered to their home. Julie starts having nightmares.
More adult things happen with Julie’s mother having trouble getting along with Dr. Russo, the school principal. The superintendent
After being benched with a shoulder injury, Kelly ODs on morphine in the locker room. Coach Allison tells Julie not to call 911, and she will handle it herself. Kelly is Dr. Russo’s daughter, and it seems like she is working with Coach Allison to keep the drug usage under wraps.
Julie gets assigned the new team captain (cue a strange name spelling ritual here. “J.U.L.I.E. Julie! Julie.”), and her friends think that it is because her mother is the assistant vice principal. Julie opens up to Coach Allison, who assures her student that Kelly will be fine, and Julie got the position based on her own merits, not nepotism.
Brianna goes on a date with Vargas. They drink wine, and he asks her to go easy on the athletes. Lexi’s mother interrupts and takes Vargas to talk in the other room… in maybe the sloppiest scene location continuity I’ve ever seen in a Lifetime movie.
Kelly is going through withdrawal from pain medication; she comes to Julie for help and warns her that being captain is all it seems to be. Julie decides to figure out what is going on. Kelly and Julie meet Vargas at the “restaurant/living room/patio” he talks about his big yacht while adjusting his belt. (Vargas has a thing for teen girls, I guess.) Coach Allison was one of those girls, it ruined her life, but she still gives him access to the girls on her team. Well, until Coach Allison stabs Vargas in the neck with the adrenaline pens and kills him. Then she drives away while blasting techno.
Julie and Kelly get into a car accident. They call Coach Allison for help, but she knocks Julie unconscious. She locks the girls in a shed and ties them up. Vanessa is there too and alive. She forces them to do a cheer routine while dumping gasoline all over the place. The cheerleaders knock Coach Allison over and start a fire. Everyone fights in an array of cartwheels. Vanessa drives a car into the barn and kills Coach Allison. An awful CGI explosion happens, and the cheerleaders walk away during the barn “burns” in the background.
Brianna and Dr. Russo try to find their daughters and bring them to safety. Vanessa moves in with Brianna and Julie.
Vargas is alive and in their home with a knife. He holds the women hostage. Tina, a friend of Julie’s who doesn’t matter to the plot, starts a Livestream of Vargas admitting his crimes. Julie knocks Vargas out as he is talking, but the girls seem to be more interested in how viral they have gone.
Vargas, Lexi, and her mother are arrested. Ricky is the new team captain, and we love that for him. The movie ends with Brianna, Julie, Vanessa, and Kelly doing 1/4 of a tick tok dance. The end.

*** I’ve updated the rating system moving forward. Knives represent # of kills. Wine is over enjoyment (NOT a value judgment) on a 1-5 scale.
I will use the following tags for those who want to know whether to watch or skip: Pour it Up (Would Recommend) or Put A Cork In It (Would Not Recommend).
