Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Publicist Alyssa Banks thinks she’s in a fairy tale when she meets a British prince who whisks her away to Europe. However, Alyssa’s dream quickly turns into a nightmare when the volatile prince refuses to let her leave his family’s estate.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

The movie begins with a blonde in a castle begging to go home. A prince murders her, I guess!

Cut to NYC working girl, Alyssa, is having trouble sleeping and has recently been through a break-up. She works in PR.

Jack, a prince, is in New York and meets Alyssa at a party. He tells her that her name means “Noble Woman” in Galic. He invites her up to his VIP room, and they get to know one another better. She gives him her number, and they agree to meet again soon.

Prince Jack heads back to his hotel and strips off his shirt to show knife shashes all over his hot body. Jack’s brother Timothy calls to make sure he is taking his anti-psychotic meds, which he isn’t. He, for sure, is a murderer.

The next day, Prince Jack calls Alyssa and invites her to brunch after stalking her home and office. Prince Jack also stalks her on social media and geotags her while they are on a romantic horse-drawn carriage.

When Alyssa’s ex-boyfriend Chuck shows up with flowers to apologize, Prince Jack kills him in an alley before he can see Alyssa. Then Jack steals the flowers and presents them to Alyssa himself. He invites her to go back to his castle abroad.

They take a private jet and head to the country. It isn’t like the country in the US; it is a straight-up castle with some woods around it. There is, of course, no cell signal. (Meaning she can’t get calls from her friend back home warning her about Jack’s mental health problems that have leaked to the press.)

Tired from her travels, Alyssa takes a bath, unaware that Prince Jack is watching her on surveillance cameras. Later, they have dinner and share a kiss goodnight. Alyssa feels like she landed in a Hallmark movie, minus the creepy cameras everywhere watching her every move.

Timothy and his family show up due to a scheduling snafu. Prince Jack plans to take Alyssa somewhere else for some alone time, but she sneaks out for a walk around town and then into some abandoned horse stables. Where she finds a BODY!!!!

Instead of running away, Alyssa has a civilized dinner with Prince Jack, Timothy, and his wife, Susan. She can’t keep her composure and excuses herself from the table. She begs the servant to let her go, but he has pledged allegiance to the prince. She is trapped.

Prince Jack finds a note that Alyssa wrote asking for help and chases her around the castle. Alyssa steals an iPad and calls her friend for help, but it is a bad connection. Then she goes live on Susan’s social media page, showing the world that Prince Jack isn’t so charming.

On camera, Prince Jack admits to killing multiple women and threatens Alyssa. She makes a run for it after letting him know that he has gone viral.

Prince Jack kills his servant and continues to chase after Alyssa. She manages to get out of the house by screaming at Susan to let her out; Susan is more concerned with her public image and tells Timothy to handle his brother.

Timothy tries to reason with his brother in a very British way. Prince Jack isn’t having it and shoots his brother in the heart.

Alyssa runs through the woods from the madman with a gun. The servant didn’t die and shoots the prince dead.

Back in the US, Alyssa wonders why she keeps picking the wrong guys.

Side Note

Hmmm I was interested in this because the cast was similar to a Hallmark movie, but they didn’t nail the Lifetime tropes here.

Minority Report: None?

*** I’ve updated the rating system moving forward. Knives represent # of kills. Wine is over enjoyment (NOT a value judgment) on a 1-5 scale.

I will use the following tags for those who want to know whether to watch or skip: Pour it Up (Would Recommend) or Put A Cork In It (Would Not Recommend).

Overall rating

Number of Kills:

🔪🔪🔪 (3 Knives)

Enjoyment Level: 🍷 (1 glasses of wine.)

  1. I agree I was totally waiting for the tropes and there weren’t any because as I’m watching it I’m thinking this is Hallmark but only with a psychopathic Prince..
    Patrick I love your recaps..
