Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Inspired by true events. Angela West has always wanted a family, and now that she has one with her devoted husband Keith, she couldn’t be happier. When an ex-boyfriend starts stalking her, Angela turns to Keith for protection. But no matter what she tries, she can’t seem to shake the stalker who is ruining her life. Paniz Zade and Luke Humphrey star. (2022)

Recap/Wine Thoughts

The movie begins with a pregnant woman struggling to free herself from the bed she is tied to in a basement cabin.

Cut to the same woman, not pregnant, having brunch with her friends. Her name is Angela, and she recently married a man named Keith. Her friends aren’t fans and tell her that he manipulates her into spending all her time with him. (Angela notes that they DO work together and are married, so WTF!)

Back at home, Keith is supportive and encouraging of his wife. They are struggling to get pregnant, and she is upset. Keith takes matters into his own hands and talks to their boss about Angela taking a break from work. He tells Angela later that he was just trying to “protect her.” (Ugh! You’re no charming prince, sir. Take your Boston accent and shove it!)

Angela and Keith become pregnant, and they celebrate with a fancy dinner. Angela goes to brunch and, after turning down mimosas, has to tell her friends about the baby; they are ecstatic.

After posting on social media, Angela gets well wishes from friends and family. Including an old boyfriend named Tyler. Keith gets jealous and tells Angela to block him. She doesn’t, and Tyler continues to DM Angela.

In the middle of the night, Angela is awakened by the sound of glass shattering. She finds an intruder downstairs and screams for help. Keith comes to her rescue, and she is thankful for him this time. The police search the house and tell them to lock the doors next time.

Angela keeps the conversations with Tyler from Keith because he gets jealous. Tyler steps up his messaging game and pushes Angela to facetime. He gives her marriage advice, which is strange for an old college boyfriend, but he seems genuine.

Keith arranges a fancy dinner to celebrate and books it on Angela’s phone. He sees the messages from Tyler and angrily confronts her in the middle of the meal. Angela is so uncomfortable that she gets her own ride home and vents to Tyler on the way home.

The couple fights more at home, and Angela concedes. She tells Tyler to stop contacting her, and he messages asking her to reconsider. She keeps that message from Keith because she doesn’t want to restart the argument.

After Tyler sends flowers to an event that Angela is planning, she realizes that his intentions aren’t so innocent and tells Keith what is happening. Keith is understanding this time and can see his wife is really concerned. Angela blocks Tyler for REAL this time.

The blocking doesn’t stop Tyler from sending messages to Angela. He even sends a picture of her from the event and tells her that she looks beautiful. Tyler is stalking her. A gift shows up on their doorstep, and that is the final straw. Keith takes Angela to the police to file a report about Tyler, gives her a burner phone, and installs security cameras to protect her.

Flashing back to pregnant AF Angela in the basement. She is frantically trying to escape and hide a brick under her pillow. (Which doesn’t work, but good for her for trying.)

The precautions don’t work, and messages still come to Angela’s phone. She is almost as pregnant as she is paranoid. Angela finds a baby doll under her comforter with a message from Tyler that he will see her soon.

Detectives finally find Tyler in Spain, and he couldn’t have been the one stalking Angela. He denies messaging Angela, and detectives start to look for where the messages are coming from. They realize that the TEXTS ARE COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE!

Keith takes Angela to the cabin to keep her safe after drugging her. She wakes up and realizes that she is in danger. Keith tries to explain that he bought the cabin as a surprise to keep her safe from Tyler and guys like him. Keith is controlling, manipulating the whole Tyler situation so Angela would “need him.” He locks her in the basement.

Angela takes going into labor to get Keith to come to her bedside. He agrees to untie her but still keeps her locked in the basement and plans to raise their child in the woods FOREVER. Angela gets the brick from under the pillow and smashes Keith in the back of the head.

Angela makes a run for it and almost gets away, but Keith grabs her on the front porch. The detective arrives, and Angela delivers the baby on her own! (She doesn’t need no man!)

Cut to Angela with her baby. Her friends help her take care of herself and baby Layla. They talk about the dangers of stalkers, and Keith takes a plea deal.
