Fresh off a bad break-up, a young professional moves in with the seemingly perfect roommate but finds herself the object of a deadly obsession. Camila Senna, Daniela Rivera star. (2023)
Recap/Wine Thoughts
We are off with a woman standing on the beach, fully clothed, looking into the ocean while voices play in her head. Her name is Bianca, and she recalls a recent memory of her former roommate Sophia arguing. When Sophia brings up her sister, Bianca stabs her with scissors.
Angelina breaks up with her abusive boyfriend, Marco; he has anger issues. Angelina’s annoying friend Gabi helps her move out by carrying one laundry basket and whining, “Angelina! Let’s go!”
Bianca cleans up the murder scene and burns all of Sophia’s books/clothes. She is ready to move on and terrorize someone else now. Bianca takes pictures of the room with her car Daphine and lists it on See and Rent’s website.
Marco sends Angelina ALL CAPS text messages and goes out of his way to harass Angelina. Gabi is happy to have her friend stay on the couch, but Angelina feels like a burden, so she applies for a room.
Angelina is a trauma counselor who needs to take a course on suicide prevention because Silver Lining isn’t a great tactic when talking to someone who is actively thinking of suicide.
Bianca researches Angelina and learns that her potential roommate has a job, is allergic to cats, and likes Seattle. Bianca gets ready for the interview and puts out a book about Seattle. She also gets rid of her cat by putting Daphine outside. (Poor Daphnie!)
Angelina loves the place (It is actually really nice!) and moves in immediately. (Little do they know about psycho Bianca, who throws Sophia’s body in the ocean before Angelina moves in.) Gaby understands her friend’s decision and thinks it will be the best plan to escape psycho Marco.
Gaby helps Angelina move in and doesn’t get along with Bianca from the get-go. Bianca gives Angelina a friendship bracelet. Angelina is touched and shares her break-up story with Marco and how she is excited to start over.
Bianca, a fashion designer, makes a leather jacket for Angelina and gives it to her as a gift. In exchange, they take BFF selfies. Angelina asks Bianca not to post on social media because she doesn’t want Marco to find her. That doesn’t stop Bianca from putting a baby monitor under Angelina’s bed.
Marco holds Angelina’s Grandmother’s ring hostage and forces her to come to his house. Bianca accompanies her for safety. When they get there, Marco is a mess and proposes in SWEATPANTS! (That is an automatic “no,” right ladies?!) Then Marco showed them his happy trail, I mean gun; he showed them a gun tucked into his sweatpants.
Angelina cries to Bianca, and Bianca opens up about her abusive parents and sister who killed herself. Angelina supports her roommates and listens.
Bianca breaks into Marco’s house in the middle of the night and looks for the Grandmother’s ring. Marco wakes up, takes a sip of beer from the fridge, and notices Bianca is in his house. He pulls a gun on her, and she makes a deal with him. They actually sit down and talk about his emotions when Bianca pretends to be a therapist. After earning his trust, Bianca beats the crap out of him with an antler of some kind. He gives her the ring, and then she bashes his head with a champagne bottle and throws his body into the ocean too!
Angelina invites Gaby to drinks after Bianca makes a dress for her to wear for a girl’s night out. Bianca wasn’t planning on having Gaby join and is annoyed the whole evening.
To keep the drama going, Bianca texts Angelina from Marco’s phone and threatens her. Then she scratches her car in the parking lot to make Angelina feel unsafe.
Angelina is too busy flirting with Diego to notice. When they do notice that Gaby’s car is vandalized, Diego is set on getting even with Marco. Bianca tells Angelina that Diego is shady and Gaby is fake. Angelina gets annoyed and goes to be, and as she does, Bianca screams after her but says her sister’s name, Amelia.
While writing an apology note for Bianca, she finally notices the baby monitor that has been hiding under her bed. She decides to move out and talks to Gaby about what happened.
Angelina starts spending less and less time at home. She goes out on dates with Diego, works, and hangs by the pool with Gaby. Bianca won’t let that happen and crashes a sushi date to give Angelina her Grandmother’s ring.
Bianca fakes an attack from Marco to lure Angelina home from another date with Diego. Diego drives Angelina home and goes inside to make sure everything is safe. Bianca stabs him and throws him down on the ground while telling him not to mess with her “sister.”
Angelina rushes in and asks where the police are. Bianca pretends to call and acts as if they went to the wrong address. Bianca tells Angelina that they can start over and be together forever. Angelina wants to help Diego, but Bianca tells her to let him die. Angelina realizes that Bianca thinks she is Amelia.
Gaby shows up and isn’t much use. She talks to Diego and keeps asking him useless questions instead of calling the police.
Angelina sees Marco’s phone; his screen saver is a picture of himself. (LOL! I should do that.)
Bianca strangles Angelina and then Gaby. The three women fight, eventually raking Gaby out. (With a soccer trophy?) Angelina holds a dying Diego in her arms as the police sirens sound in the background.
Gaby and Angelina move in together three months later while wearing booty shorts. Diego is alive and doesn’t help them unpack; so rude!
Binca sits in a jail cell and is obsessed with her new cellmate and draws a little picture of her.
Side Note
This movie was a paint-by-numbers Lifetime Movie. However, I was invested for some reason. I credit the attractive cast and good pacing from director Christine Conradt.
Minority Report: Sophia, Angelina, Bianca, Marco, Diego, Gaby
