A shopping channel host known as Ms. Christmas receives a terminal diagnosis, which inspires a multi-city excursion set to spread Christmas cheer before her farewell broadcast.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Barbara Niven plays a TV host known as Ms. Christmas. It is her first day back on set for the 24th season of her show after a break, and her producer, Amanda, has festive Christmas activities planned for her return. Before they hit the ground running, Amanda is set up on a blind date.
Amanda mistakenly sits down for coffee with Travis, who she thinks is her date. He waits to tell her she has the wrong guy because Amanda is nervous and babbles on and on. When he finally tells her, she is annoyed he didn’t tell her sooner.
Meanwhile, Gail, AKA Ms. Christmas, meets with her doctor for her five-year checkup for her cancer remission and learns that she only has a year to live. Gail talks to the network head and asks to take the show on the road for her farewell tour because she is (to the public) retiring. Gail tells Amanda that she wants her to become her successor, AKA Ms. Holiday. The network agrees, but only if a home nurse joins Gail on her tour.
Travis is hired as a home nurse and is asked to lie to maintain appearances. Gail and the Network head, Elizabeth, come up with the story that Travis is Elizabeth’s godson and will go on tour to learn about the entertainment business.
On the tour bus, Gail talks about why this year is so important. (People need connections for Christmas!) She also encourages Amanda to pursue Travis. Amanda isn’t sure about Travis and feels uncomfortable about him joining them.
During the tour, an old flame named James arrives with flowers for Gail. He offers to follow her while she is on tour and wants to reconnect, but Gail shoots him down.
Travis gets a makeover and, thankfully, gets a haircut. They put him in a red suit. and are pleased. Amanda also gets a makeover. Then, they film a donut segment at a local bakery and include a reindeer donut to her version of Oprah’s favorite things.
Gail continues to get sicker and sicker throughout the movie, and Amanda begins to wonder why Gail is REALLY retiring. Then, she sees Gail reject a proposal from her old flame, James. Amanda gives him the tour schedule and cellphone number because Gail believes in second chances.
Somehow, Travis becomes an on-air talent and is now Mr. Holiday. While working together, Ms. Holiday and Mr. Holiday start to fall in love and share a kiss.
Amanda finds some medical papers and confronts Gail. Gail explains that she has a brain tumor and only has a few years to live. Amanda feels upset and betrayed, so she asks Gail to take some time to figure out how she feels. The next day, Amanda decides to work with them to make sure Gail is as healthy as she can be.
Gail gets faint while filming, and Travis becomes concerned. He checks her out and sees that she is dehydrated. After he fixes her up, Gail meets up with James and tells him. Amanda and Travis about their love affair. Gail invites James to join her on his show and then has an adverse reaction to her brain cancer medication in front of James. He now knows her medical secret,
James stays by Gail’s bedside, and she invites him to spend Christmas with her. Elizabeth wants the team to return to the studio and cut the tour short. Amanda and Travis decide to continue with the tour. Gail gives Amanda a Hallmark Keepsake to keep her Christmas memories and has her host the show while in the hospital. Gail watches the live feed with an earpiece!
Amanda is excited to have Ms. Christmas live in her ear to support her. Travis is also watching. The show goes very well, and Amanda is a natural!
Gail passes the baton to Amanda, and they do one final show together! The end!
