One week before Christmas, a huge business deal sends real estate “closer” Lexie Crenshaw (Jana Kramer) back to a place she swore she’d never return to: her hometown of Tubac, Arizona. Back on the range, Lexie must convince Coby Mason (Adam Senn), a horse-whispering rancher, to part ways with his family’s land, while navigating her relationship with her father (Bruce Thomas) and brothers she left behind, leading her to reconsider the life she gave up 10 years ago.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
The movie starts aptly with some country music.
Lexi has a cute pedicure and business lewks. She is a confident real estate broker, landing deals left and right. (She might as well be on the set of Selling Sunset!) Lexi and her BFF Simone plan to head to Iceland for a Christmas vacation, but a massive deal comes across their desk and could change their business. The only catch is the deal is in Lexi’s hometown in Arizona. Lexi hasn’t been home in ten years and has a strained relationship with her father.

Back in Arizona, Lexi wastes no time throwing on some boots and hitting the bar. As she swings back a beer, a confident man mistakes her for his blind date. His name is Coby, and he sings his daughter a lullaby on the phone while sitting next to Lexi. He clarifies the situation, and Lexi helps him write off his blind date, who is an hour late. They flirt, and Lexi tells him she can make anyone say yes. Then, she works on getting Coby to dance with her. (It works when Cassie Randolph shows up for the blind date.) Lexi and Coby dance and then make out. He turns down her invitation for a one-night stand. They don’t even exchange names. (OUCH!)

The following day, Lexi heads to a horse ranch or whatever. Lexi is looking for the land owner in hopes of convincing him to sell. She meets the owner’s mother, Millie, who is bitter about Lexi’s father buying up all the land in town. Lexi doesn’t disclose who she is or why she is there, but she does ride a horse! (So that is fun!) Lexi next meets Abby, the land’s daughter and the owner is CODY FROM THE BAR. He doesn’t want anything to do with a Crenshaw. (Lexi’s brothers are there, too, and they are surprised to learn she is back in town.)

Lexi’s little brother Jack is all grown up and reminds her of her mother, who passed away. Jack seems to be the most hurt by his sister’s ten-year absence. They stay in the bunkhouse out back instead of the main house because Lexi’s relationship with her father is tense. Lexi was shut out of the family business after her mother’s death. Walton, Lexi’s brother, inherited everything and strained their relationship.

Coby and Lexi feed horses apples, and she opens up about her rocky relationship with her father. Coby validates her feelings by sharing that his mother has a similar experience with her father. Coby tells Lexi that horses are a lot easier than people to deal with, and there is a lot of sexual tension. (Between Cody and Lexi, not the horses.)

Lexi used to be a champion horse rider and uses her skills to help Abby improve her horse riding. To say thank you, Abby invites her to join them for Christmas eve eve dinner. Where they eat Christmas Lasagna. (I’m going to need to know what that is!)
At the dinner, Coby, his mother, and daughter all wear Christmas hats and prep the meal. Millie tells Lexi she wants Coby to sell, but he is too proud. Millie asks Lexi to send her the paperwork and warns her to be careful with her son’s heart.

Lexi may be careful with Coby’s heart, but not his penis! They have a sexy time in a much-hyped Christmas Movie Sex Scene. (TBH, it is par for the course for Lifetime every other month of the year. We love shirtless hunks and rolls in the hay.)

The next morning, Lexi finds past due bills and tells him he is in a bad spot. Coby gets angry and accuses her of just using him for a commission. He knows no other life than ranching. Lexi tells him that she understands; she lost her ranch, too.
Lexi’s father calls a family meeting for a discussion and tells his kids that Jack will take over the business. Walton belittles Lexi’s interest in the family, and her father tells Lexi that she has broken the family. Lexi pops off! Then she rides a horse REALLY fast while crying.

Coby talks to his mom and decides to sell.
A storm rolls in, and Coby needs help wrangling cattle. He goes to the Crenshaw ranch, and Weston brags about the sale because Lexi’s dad was the secret buyer. Coby feels betrayed, and Lexi is confused. Abby goes missing in the storm with her horse in all the drama. They find her, and she is fine. Moving on!

Harrison tells Lexi that he bought the ranch for her. She tells him he is manipulative and brings her to town under failed pretenses. He apologizes and tells her he and her mother wanted more for Lexi. So, they allowed her to thrive off the ranch, even if it wasn’t what she wanted.
Lexi sells the ranch back to Coby for $1 under the stipulation that she run the ranch and get things back in shape. They would be partners. Coby says yes, and they kiss.

Now back in town part-time, Lexi can repair her relationship with her family and grow her relationship with Coby. The end!
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
I’m surprised Lifetime didn’t mandate that the entire ranch be decorated for no reason!
