Recap/Wine Thoughts
John and his wife Lizzie, a very pregnant wife, move onto Cherry Lane on Christmas Eve. They just want to spend time together alone with one another and not worry about their families who live nearby. They, of course, don’t get the quiet Christmas Eve they were hoping for. Lizzie’s family surprises them to “help”.

Regina lives a few doors down and has two adult children. Conrad and wannabe singer Winnie. They are upset when Regina tells them she is retiring early, getting married, and moving to Florida. The adult kids

Mike and his husband Zain are stressed because they are hosting a Christmas dinner and don’t have a finished kitchen. To relieve stress, they sing Christmas carols. They want to be foster parents and need a working kitchen. When the Social Worker shows up and tells them, they are next on the list. The couple tell her they will be ready!

Then the movie randomly goes back to 1973?!?!? What is happening? Oh, wait. There are three timelines in the same house on Cherry Lane. OKAY! 1973, 1993, and 2023. We could have made the decades more prominent.

The one constant is the neighbor, Daisy. Who is Regina’s friend AND Mike and Zain’s confidant. He was taken in by a Foster family on Christmas Eve, too.

Regina’s kids confront her about moving, and it doesn’t go well. They plan to bring Christmas magic into the house. They do some Christmas games, but this is the most boring timeline.
Back in the ’70s, Lizzie’s sister shows up, and she is pregnant too! Lizzie and John are driven crazy by her parents, who have many options. They take a break from cooking and go caroling to Daisy’s house. Daisy is a college student and home alone, so the family invites her to join them.

In 2023, Mike and Zain worry if they are ready for parenthood and have a heart-to-heart moment. Daisy interrupts with good news and tells them the kitchen is almost done, but the power goes out.
Someone breaks into the gas station that John owns. He makes friends with a local police officer and a soon-to-be dad. Lizzie goes into labor, and John has to get through a blizzard. Greg offers to take him in his police car. He makes it just in time to deliver the baby in the living room.

Mike and Daisy cook Christmas dinner at the restaurant he works at. They get stranded because of a blizzard, and Winnie shows up. She is a famous singer now? Conrad and Winnie give them a ride in the same beat-up car he had in the 90s.

The baby is born, and Lizzie and John decide to name the baby Ivy. (Who was Zain’s foster parents that Christmas Eve when he was a kid. It’s come full circle. Merry Christmas!
