Synopsis (via Lifetime)

When single mother Cheryl finds out her daughter Ashley is dancing as a pole dancer at a night club to pay her way through college, she is furious and threatens to disown her. She regrets their fight when Ashley goes missing and cops provide no help finding her. Cheryl is certain the key to finding her daughter lies in the club she worked at. To gain the trust of the dancers and patrons, Cheryl gets a job as a dancer at the club. Cheryl doesn’t tell anyone who she is until she gains the trust of bartender Jake, who agrees to help find Ashley. But every lead they follow ends nowhere. Cheryl finds herself falling in love with Jake–only to discover that his brother Rick is the one who kidnapped Ashley and is holding her prisoner. Rick is in love with Ashley and envisioned having a life with her. But Jake refuses to turn in Rick and traps Cheryl in the basement with Ashley. Stars Jessica Morris, Philip Boyd, Jessica Lynn Wallace (2024).

Recap/Wine Thoughts

A sorority girl named Ashley, with INSANE pink shoes, comes home late from a date. She takes a shower and hears someone come in the room, thinking it is her sorority sister, Carla. It isn’t. It is a killer who leaves a note on her bed, bursts through the window, and attacks her.

Said shoes!

A few days earlier, we meet Sheryl. She is named teacher of the year, and the faculty all chant “Sheryl” and give her a cake to celebrate. Sheryl thanked coffee for all her success and for sleeping with the principal. Sheryl declines a date with Randal to have dinner with her college-age daughter, Ashley, who is hiding something!!!!

A co-worker, Ben, is VERY hungover from a night of partying for his bachelor. He plops some Alkaselzers and shows Sheryl his photos of Ashley working the pole. Sheryl rushes to the sorority house and finds Ashley arguing with her boyfriend, Beckett. He also finds out about Ashley’s stripper job and calls her a slut. Ashley slaps him and kicks him out of the house. Sheryl talks to her daughter and asks her if porn and prostitution are next. Ashley says she can take care of herself and ignores calls from her mother.

Ashley is missing, and the note is the only clue. Sheryl questions Beckett, and he calls his ex-girlfriend a slut and wants his fraternity pin back. Then Sheryl goes to a VERY NICE strip club and talks to the bouncer, who tells her that he is “not Doctor Phil.” (Haha, I loved him!)

I loved this guy!

Sheryl sneaks in, and it is a legit mansion that is basically a hotel with many boom-boom rooms. After the bouncer kicks her out, Sheryl finds Ashley’s purse and brings it to the police. The detective enters, screaming about how understaffed he is. It is also hilarious. He doesn’t take Sheryl’s concerns seriously and brushes them off.

Ashley’s friend Carla helps Sheryl learn how to pole dance in her living room so Sheryl can go undercover as a dancer!!!! (LOVE!)

Training Montage! With wigs AND glasses! (Sheryl seems more excited about pretending to be a stripper than finding her daughter.)

The Montage was excellent

At Stripper Auditions, the girls bring it. Sheryl feels intimidated and almost leaves, but the bartender, Jake, encourages her to stay. When it is Sheryl’s turn, it is clear Jessica Morris is no expert on the stripper pole, but she has that whole hot teacher thing going for her, and she makes it to the next round!

Living a double life starts getting to Sheryl immediately. She begins missing things at work and isn’t making friends at the club. Candy throws Sheryl’s makeup in the trash, and she makes friends with another girl who knows Ashley. The dancing starts 6:30p?!?!? Sheryl has to make $200 in tips by midnight, or the lady boss will fire her.

When she threw that purse in the trash I LOLed

Sheryl dances in a literal tutu and comes up short when the other girls steal the men’s eyes. Sheryl gives up and spends time at the bar talking to Jake. Jake, the bartender, is a recovering alcoholic. He gives her the extra money to make it past $200. The boss lady takes the tips and has Sheryl stay late to clean. (We learn later that the Lady boss happens to have a grandson in Sheryl’s class.)

A masked figure turns off the light and chases Sheryl around the club, and someone also vandalizes her car. “Quit or DIE!” Jake offers to help and gives her a ride home.

Candy denies trying to scare Sheryl or vandalize her car, but she LOVES to make Sheryl uncomfortable and shades her as much as possible.

It was only a matter of time before Beckett showed up at DA CLUB and asked Sheryl for a VIP room experience. Lady Boss takes Sheryl to the back and scolds her for turning down a request. Sheryl explains that she knows Beckett and takes the moment to ask about Ashley.

After another night of cleaning the pole, Jake tells Sheryl that he knows she is lying, and they agree to meet for coffee. Sheryl comes clean and admits that she is Ashley’s mother. Jake suggests that Ashley is working at a new club. Sheryl doesn’t think that could be true, suggesting instead that Candy is behind Ashley’s disappearance. Randy, who is salty about seeing Sheryl with another man, interrupts the meeting. Randy is PISSED.

Jake and Sheryl start asking patrons at the club about Ashley. Sheryl talks to a co-worker/former student, Cherry, who has all the hot gossip. Cherry leaves the club that night, and someone chokes her from the backseat. (This is a classic Lifetime kill—always check the backseat, people!)

Damn, check your backseats, people!

Beckett talks mad trash about Ashley at a party, and Carla overhears him. (This movie wants me to think he is a suspect, but he is too cute.)

When news breaks about Cherry dying, Randy says trash ends up like trash, dead in the river. It upsets Sheryl so much that she has to leave and be with the other dancers. (Yes, she gets in FULL DISGUISE to cry with the other strippers in the middle of the day.) Candy isn’t sympathetic and gets into a brawl with Sheryl, which somehow earns Candy’s respect. Boss Lady tells everyone that it isn’t a book club; get out there and dance. (I love her!)

Iconic and Money-Focused DIVA!

Sheryl gets a mystery request for a VIP room with… RANDY! He slut-shames her, and Sheryl explains what is happening with Ashley. He fires her on the spot. Sheryl is upset and makes out with Jake to make herself feel better. Then they have sex on the kitchen table! (BUT WHAT ABOUT ASHLEY!)

A pepping Tom named Gerry totally ruins the mood. He tells them that he is looking for Ashley, but that is a weird lie. Sheryl rushes to call the police and is surprised to get a call from Carla telling her to come to the sorority house ASAP.

Carla has a typed letter on pink stationery with Ashley’s signature stating that she is okay and never wants to see anyone again. Also, all of Ashley’s stuff is moved out of her room. The signature looks legit, so it is perplexing.

Back at the club, the boss lady overhears Sheryl talking about Ashley again and tells her that it is annoying. Sheryl comes clean and tells Candy and her the truth. They let her continue to work and look for Ashley as long as there are no more secrets. (Does this mean Sheryl can lose the terrible wig she has been wearing.)

THIS WIG!!!!!!

Carla is attacked by two masked figures in the middle of the night and thrown over the balcony to plunge to her death for asking too many questions.

Meanwhile, Sheryl puts on a pot of tea before hearing someone trying to enter her home. She grabs a big ass kitchen knife and opens the door. She is surprised to find Beckett at the door. She pours him a glass of milk, and Beckett spills. He was hired to make it look like Ashley moved out by a weird guy patron from the club.

Sheryl follows the weird guy’s car to his estate. He is very wealthy and living a double life, too. She calls the police, leaves a message, and breaks into the home. Sheryl is convinced that Ashley is inside when she sees a glass with lipstick on the rim and a pink dress on the bed.

Ashley is chained to a brick wall in the basement, and the creepy patron, Rick, has been holding her captive. Sheryl tries to get help but doesn’t have cell service. Rick stops Sheryl on the stairs and knocks her unconscious.

Someone explain to me the cheerleader uniform??

Rick stutters and struggles to explain that he and Ashley have a real connection. Sheryl takes him seriously and offers to cook them a meal. Rick agrees, and when Shryl tries to get away, Rick almost burns Sheryl’s face off on the stove.

THEN, Rick’s brother shows up… JAKE. Jake admits to doing everything with his brother to make him happy. Sheryl tells Jake that she loves him and thinks everything he has done for his brother is sweet. Sheryl promises to convince Ashley that they can all live together as a happy family and cook dinner!

The newly formed family sits down for a lovely meal with WINE! Jake tells them they don’t need to work anymore and will be kept as women. Sheryl pretends to love that idea and offers to give them a mother/daughter lap dance. (Ashley is like, WTF!)

Ashley’s face during this whole scene was like, “Uhhhh, what?!”

Sheryl blindfolds the men, and they try to tie them up sexily, but Jake grabs Sheryl and almost chokes her to death. Ashley stabs him in the back, and they are saved!!!

Randy gives Sheryl her job back with a generous raise and bonus package to apologize for calling her a slut. Candy stops by the school and wants to get her education. Sheryl offers to tutor her.

I liked that they took time to wrap up this storyline

Ashley is back on campus and ready to go back to school. She asks her mom to spend the night, and they hug. The end!

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

The filming locations for this one were legit.

  1. The cheerleader costume was the last thing Ashley was wearing. It is her strip club persona.

  2. Very entertaining movie! But I have to say, as a former exotic dancer, she should have been practicing in platform heels not tennis shoes! Lol
