Young Henry is the light of Jessica and Dylan’s life, but when Jessica discovers that his biological father is actually their fertility doctor, Dr. Bellamy, she teams up with another one of the doctor’s clients to bring him to justice before he can destroy any more families.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Dr. Preston Bellamy is a fertility with only a few months left to live. He records a video to send to his kid on their 18th birthday. The doctor admits to swapping out his “seed” with the specimen from the husband’s donors.
There is a LONG title sequence.
Jess and her husband, Dylan, struggle to have a baby and are discouraged. Jess has long dreamed of the family she would have. Dylan promises to do whatever he must, including finding another man!!! Jess suggests IVF, and they start looking for a doctor. (This scene is a solid 10 minutes and could have been cut down to a few sentences.)
Flash to mommy Jess (in a pink cardigan and matching phone case). She is at the playground with her son, Henry. (insert losing her child scene.) They next go to the doctor’s office for Henry’s annual check-up. In the lobby, they run into a boy who looks just like Henry. The mothers lock eyes and exchange knowing glances. Then Dr. Preston Bellamy shows up; he is alive and looks just like the boys. (Down to their blonde hair.)
Jess talks to her shirtless hunk husband and casually mentions the run-in with the doctor. Dylan laughs about Henry’s hair turning even blonder; he never thought they would have a child with blonde hair.
When Jess gets the results of the test from Henry’s physical, she sees that Henry’s blood type is O, which isn’t possible with the combination of Jess’s and Dylan’s blood types. Jess meets with Dr. Preston Bellamy, and on his desk is a picture of his son. He tells Jess that his son and wife have both passed away. He explains the one-in-a-million occurrence and angrily shuts Jess’ questions down when she keeps pressing him for answers. (On her way to work, she thinks someone is following her.)
Dylan uses Jess’ laptop to check the WIFI and sees the YouTube video about blood types.
Another mom meets with Jess for coffee and shares the same suspicion about Dr. Bellamy. That mom even went to the police but got nowhere because of Dr. Bellamy’s prestigious status in the community and his well-renowned practice.
Dr. Bellamy is not bothered and spends his time at home alone, focusing on wellness. He meditates, rows, and meets with doctors about his medical condition. The prognosis is not good. He speaks at an IVF conference, and many of his patients are there. All the kids look the same.
A few of the moms ordered DNA tests to try and get evidence against Dr. Bellamy. Dylan sees the box arrive and increasingly worries about what his wife is up to.
Jess and her mommy friend, Sarah, get the results and learn that their sons are, in fact, related. Sarah has an elaborate plan to get Dr. Bellamy’s DNA from his house with a radio scrambler. (Don’t ask!) Jess gets a toothbrush and some other items, but she gets distracted by the video he made admitting his sample tampering. Jess doesn’t make it out of the house in time, and Dr. Bellamy comes home. He knows someone is in the house.
Dr. Bellamy loads up a syringe with Fentyal and lurks around the house. He sees a file on his desk for Sarah and thinks she must have been the home intruder. Jess makes it out in time, and they seem to have the needed evidence. They submit the DNA and have proof that Dr. Bellamy is the father to both their children. The moms make a plan to go to the police the next day after Jess has a chance to talk to Dylan.
Dylan gets a call from the fertility clinic, and she is sure that his wife is having an affair. He takes a paternity test and learns that he is not the father! Dylan moves out and is generally overdramatic and unhelpful. Dylan confronts Dr. Bellamy angrily and demands to know what is going on. Dr. Bellamy invites Dylan inside to talk AND get injected with Fentynal.
Jess leaves her son with his grandfather and goes to the police. When Sarah doesn’t show up, Jess worries and drives to her friend’s house, only to find it is a crime scene. Someone has murdered Sarah. Jess rushes to talk to Sarah’s ex-husband and asks what happened. He tells Jess that it was a Fentynal OD.
Dr. Bellamy calls Jess and threatens to hurt Dylan if she doesn’t come to see him. He has Dylan tied up to a gurney in the basement and thanks Dylan for being a good foster father for his child.
Jess confronts Dr. Bellamy and screams at him for killing Sarah. Dr. Bellamy tells her that his DNA is making their children great, wants the evidence back, and offers to pay for Henry’s education. He tells Jess to sign over paternity to him and an NDA.
Jess makes her move and attacks Dr. Bellamy. She unties her husband quickly and rushes out of the enormous basement. (It is practically a warehouse.) Dr. Bellamy isn’t far behind with his syringe of Fentynal. Jess calls 911 and runs around until she locks herself in a room.
Dr. Bellamy gets into the room from another door, and they fight. Dr. Bellamy tells Jess to take care of their boy before he passes out (or maybe dies?)
Dylan and Jess have another heart-to-heart about Henry. She tells him he is the best father, even if it isn’t biological. They joke about hoping Henry doesn’t grow up to be a doctor. (Or a psycho killer!)
The investigators find 27 more counts of fertility fraud. I’m not 100% sure if Dr. Bellamy lived or died.
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
Jess really is a summer. She loves reds, pinks, oranges, and no other colors!

“This scene is a solid 10 minutes and could have been cut down to a few sentences.” That could be said about many scenes.
“Children of IVF”- very adventurous title for a book.
Why are the men so useless. That husband was taken out twice very quickly. The wife, although, was able to fight back.
I would say this was closer to 2 glasses of wine. And it is also a remake of a Lifetime movie from years ago. My gut tells me, it was better
