When a midnight break-in occurs at the home of Diana Parker and her daughter Francine, they soon discover that the intruder is none other than Diana’s biological daughter Kasey, given up for adoption years ago. But as shattering secrets are lain bare and shocking truths come to light, an unknown aggressor inside Diana’s circle of trust decides she is a threat to their happiness and now will do anything to stop this family reunion…including murder. Diana and her daughters must act to save each other’s lives, as a cold, remorseless killer closes in from the shadows. Ashley Leggat, Laura Afelskie, Laura Provenzano, Andrea Pavlovic star. (2024)
Recap/Wine Thoughts
The movie begins with a teenager named Kacey breaking into a house with the hideaway key. She looks at family photos until another teenager rushes down the stairs with a baseball bat. She demands to know who Kacey is, and Kacey says, “Your sister.”
The police arrive at the scene, and Kacey explains that her parents were arguing, and she learns that she is adopted and Diana, Francine’s mother, is also Kacey’s mother. Then Kayce’s father, Troy, shows up, and he immediately vibes with Diana.
Diana and Troy sit the girls down and explain that they had an affair and worked out a deal for Troy and his wife Elle to take Kayce, and Diana had Fran with her husband. The adoption was a closed adoption, and the parents vowed never to tell. The teens are understandably upset.
Cut to a leather-clad lesbian with a wad of cash, a gun, and curly hair for days. Her name is Lynda, and I think she is a hitman. She gets a call from her employer and receives her next target, Diana and Fran.
More characters! Elle calls her mother, upset about the affair. The mother, Gloria, knows a lawyer and will call them in the morning. Elle’s baby brother and ex-convict wants to get revenge, but Gloria isn’t having it! Gloria also has a manservant named Andrew, who will do anything for her.
Kacey comes home and tells Elle to go to hell. (Haha!) Troy apologizes to Elle and tells her that Diana is in the past.
Lynda shoots some hoops and runs into Fran, who is also a baller! (If that isn’t coded Lesbianism, IDK what is!) They add each other on social media.
Elle turns out to be having an affair, too, with one of Troy’s co-workers, Don. Don tries to call Elle, but she shuts him down. (Well, they only had one kiss at a cocktail party. Then Don stalked her online for MONTHS!)
Kayce and Fran spend time getting to know one another and learn about their families. If anything, the girls are making the best of an awkward situation. Fran mentions going through a breakup with a boy named Peter because he cheated. Fran needs help trusting people now. (Except for Lynda!)
Diana gets a late-night visitor from Elle’s brother, Jake. He threatens her, and she asks him to leave. Then she calls the police.
Elle and Diana come face to face. It is tense, and Elle shares that she is worried she has driven Kayce and Troy away. Diana promises that she is not trying to take what is Elles. They agree to do what is in the best interest of their daughters.
Fran’s new “Basketball Buddy,” Lynda, joins Diana for a family dinner. Aunt Peg is there, and they are celebrating her vacation in Hawaii! Peg is a little too inquisitive and rubs Lynda the wrong way.
Lynda excuses herself to go to the bathroom and puts bleach in Diana’s gas tank. (This and sugar have both come up this year, and now I’m scared to drive.) Peg catches Lynda and becomes even more suspicious of Fran’s new “friend.”
Peg goes home to get some sleep before her flight, but little does she know Lynda follows her and breaks into the house. Lynda stabs Peg and apologizes for killing her on the spot. Peg just saw too much.
Fran borrows Diana’s car to go to the grocery store. With the brakes bleached out, Fran runs off the road but is fine. Jake offers to fix the car at his auto shop to make amends between the families. (Frank and Diana have some sexual chemistry.)
Elle and Troy are making up, too, and almost making out.
Diana becomes worried after not hearing from her sister Peg about the trip. Diana checks with a friend of Peg’s who is loaning her the Hawai timeshare, and the friend hasn’t heard from Peg either. The timeshare has also not been checked. Lynda follows Diana and almost crowbars her to death, but Diana sees the shadow of her attacker and rolls away. Lynda runs off before the police arrive.
Fran is STRESSED out and goes to shoot some hoops with Lynda, not knowing that Lynda killed her aunt and tried to kill her mother. After playing some around the world, Lynda offers to give Fran a ride home. Fran notices a bead from Peg’s necklace in Fran’s car. (She calls her half-sister Kayce to help her look into Lynda.)
Diana calls Troy to fill him in on her attack, but she suspects it could be Frank. Then Frank calls and tells Diana that he found bleach in the gas tank.
TWIST. The person sending Lynda’s order is Gloria’s manservant, Andrew. He is Lynda’s father. They are working to get into Gloria’s good graces and kill Diana to make Elle happy and, in turn, make Gloria happy enough to marry Andrew so they can work their way into the will. (It is convoluted, for sure. But. Hey, get that money!)
Kayce learns that Andrew and Lynda are related and catches Lynda in a lie. Kayce also finds a criminal record. Fran talks to Kayce on the phone as she checks out Peg’s house.
Frank confronts Andrew after he learns about the bleach. Andrew tells Frank to cover it up because Diana is a liability. They fight, but Frank takes Andrew out with one punch and tries to warn Diana.
Lynda takes a syringe and sneaks into Diana’s house. Andrew wants her to take Diana out but makes it look like a heart attack. That doesn’t go according to plan because Fran walks in on Diana, who Lynda is almost stabbing.
Lynda pulls out a gun and tells them she is walking out of there. Then Kayce and Elle show up and distract Lynda long enough for Diana to smash her over the head with a glass vase. The police sirens sound in the distance.
Kayce and Fran are applying to the same college. Everyone is one big happy family, and they enjoy a brunch.
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
Ashley Leggat is a little too young to be peers with Troy and Elle, let alone play a mother of two teenage girls.
There were too many characters in this movie, but it came together.
I’m feeling my age because Scott Gibson can get it!

Fatal fixer upper was the worst!!!🤮
Good lordy there was a lot going on in this movie! I’ve noticed that with several newer Lifetime movies lately. Its like they’re trying to make the movie more eventful and “surprising” but it actually just makes it kind of confusing and hard to follow. Like some of the details just don’t matter or make much sense.
Yes! Absolutely agree 👍🏽
