Carly, a local college student, develops a relationship with Abram, a young Amish man during his Rumspringa from the adjacent Amish community. But when Abram refuses to return to his home and takes Carly captive so they can be together at his own twisted version of an Amish community, Carly will need to find allies in order to escape to safety. Stars Leigha Sinnott, and Sam Bullington (2024).
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Inspired by true events.
An Amish girl sweeps out the stables when a cutie Amish boy sneaks up on her, and instead of murdering her, he kisses her. Then, someone else comes and murders her with a wheat hook. (Well, she falls and hits her head because he approaches her threateningly.)

Carly enjoys her summer by the pool with her best friend, Jenna. Carly’s dad, Grant, thinks Carly should do more with her summer. She does when she bumps into a tall redhead named… ABRAM. Carly tells him that he doesn’t act like other guys her age. She is surprised when he tells Abraham that he is off on his rumspringa. They bond instantly over both having recently lost their mothers.
“You don’t look Amish!” Carly exclaims. (And I’m sorry, he does look VERY Amish.) They take a picture together, and I’m surprised Abram let that happen because don’t the Amish think cameras take your soul or something? They exchange numbers and hang out more than Carly knows. Abram follows her home and watches her through the window.

They are making out in no time. Carly and Abram get it on outside in the woods, and I’m like, Carly!!!!!!!!!! He is Amish! Chill!!!! Apparently, the whole summer has passed by, and Carly breaks up with Abram after getting it on in the back of his pickup. They are from different worlds and all that. Abram doesn’t take it well and stalks Carly as she goes off to college with Jenna. He even goes so far as to ENROLL IN CLASSES.

Carly isn’t creeped out when she runs into Abram and invites him to a college party. Jenna is more suspicious and grills Abram. Jenna goes to the registrar and learns that Abram is a liar. She tells Abram that he needs to leave Carlty alone. Jenna doesn’t make it through the next scene and is attacked in the bathroom! Jenna survives and tells Carly that she thinks Abram attacked her and lied about enrolling in school. Carly tells Jenna that she is just jealous. (RUDE!)
Later, when Carly confronts Abram, he tells her he was scammed and enrolled in a fake college. Carly accepts his explanation but starts ignoring his texts and blowing off invitations to hang out. Until Abram sends Carly a picture of her father from the kitchen window. Carly freaks out and rushes to check on her father, surprised to find Abram looking at baby pictures. Carly tells Abram that he has crossed a line and tells him to leave her and her family alone. He cries and tells her he loves her repeatedly.

Abram freaks out when he sees Carly hugging another male student. He pushes the guy off of Carly and onto a rock. The male student hits his head on the rock and ends up in a coma. Then Abram kidnaps Carly and ties her up in his Amish home. He locks her in a room and feeds her those Amish hens that are so good! She should be happy to be eating so well, TBH! (He does watch her sleep, though, so I’m not sure the trade-off is worth it.) Carly takes some medication for her cardiac arrhythmia and needs the medication to live. Abram can’t take Carly to a doctor because Amish people don’t even take Tylenol!
Abram decides to take Carly out in public but makes her leave as an Amish person. Carly pretends to be one of the Amish and takes their herbal supplements. She falls in line because Abram threatens to hurt her father or BFF if she speaks up. He tells Carly that women are submissive to their husbands. He also says that she would like it if she gave Amish life a chance.

Jenna finds Carly’s medication and brings the pill case to Daddy Grant. They go to the police. The detectives could be more sympathetic and helpful. (Which is typical for Lifetime.) Daddy Grant tracks down Abram’s mother and gets the tea. Abram was shunned for having a “dark side” and a violent temper. Meanwhile Jenna does online research and finds the location where she thinks Carly is being kept.

Carly randomly throws up, and I’m like, is SHE PREGNANT? She is having a bad reaction to the “fox cloth” the Amish doctor gave her. The doctor, Mona, makes friends with Carly. She shares that the Amish community consists of Amish people who were shunned for one reason or another. Carly joins Mona foraging for mushrooms and other medicinal herbs. Mona tells Carly about Abram’s relationship with another Amish girl. She also mentions the girl’s tragic death at the hands of the obsessive Abram. Carly has to get out and tries to steal Abram’s car while he sleeps. (Doesn’t this movie mean horse and buggy?) She is caught and shunned by the community of shunned Amish people. They lock her in the stables.

Carly tells Abram she wants to get married so she can get out of the stables. The wedding happens right away!! At the reception Carly has Mona create a diversion so she can drug Abram’s drink while he dances. He greedily gulps it down after dancing. (This is also forbidden in non-shunned Amish life.)

Abram spills on his shirt and goes to change. Carly takes the opportunity to run into the woods with her lantern and try to get help. Carly stops a car and screams for help, but it is Abram in his truck. He has her father in the trunk, all tied up. Carly fights Abram off, and the effects of her herbal supplements kick in. Carly breaks up with him once and for all.
The police pull up, and everyone was okay! Abram is arrested. Everyone loves one another except Abram. No one loves him.

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

The movie was awful, but your reviews are awesome!
Loved it! And love you too!!!
Awww 🥰 Thanks!
Jenna would never make the cut for what YouTuber Jay Harangue calls the ULPD! (Useless Lifetime Police Department) Also, Abram’s eating IS disgusting! (The title for this on its British airing (as I write this by the way) was “Forever Mine?”)
